oh no, you too? Lemme know what you find. The whole underside of my truck is soaked, as well as up the front of the block, and both sides. No trails for me. Anybody ever use the glow-in-the-blacklight leak detection stuff? or is that a gimmick? Always wondered what that stuff would do to your oil or if you have to change it after using that stuff

I had it done for my AC. Works great IMO but I paid someone to do it.

It's just a UV dye. It's not going to impact the viscosity of your oil. I have the light and glasses to use, I had to use it a couple trucks ago to diagnose AC. Compressor itself was leaking, so I ended up just having to replace compressor, seals, dryer, etc. Sucked.

But yeah, best bet is to get in there with some old rags and wipe everything from the bottom up. By the time you get to the top, it should be clearer what's leaking. Or look for the highest point you can find oil to get a guesstimate, wipe that area clean, then monitor after a couple short drives. On driver side, it seems like the oil dipstick and support are a common place to hold oil, as are the flanges between the heads and manifold if yours has them.

when it started, I was past due for an oil change, but I threw in a quart of lucas stopleak. After some miles, it might've slowed a bit but definitely still leaking. Well, today I changed out my oil and filter, with another quart of the lucas stopleak, and 5 quarts of fresh high mileage full synthetic. Drove a couple miles and no drops, but that could be because I wiped everything dry when I was draining it. Will report back tomorrow after a trip to carlsbad tonight. Thats about 60-70 miles round trip. I'd really like to hold off on doing the timing belt job again until I need to do the timing belt job again. crossing my fingers

My boss was from bouston, and he made it sound like his sista would keep the house at like 55…… so he would always tell her to fuck off and turn it up and give her some cash.

AT-205 bro. I like Lucas products and all, but I'm convinced after my experience, AT-205 is where it's at.

Wasn't home when it was at 62. I was only keeping it there to hopefully radiate heat out through the worst of it. Pipes are flowing, so fingers crossed, we're in the clear. I know at least 3 people who've busted pipes so far and have no water, no hopes to get a plumber out for days. I'd personally be running to Home Depot and grabbing SharkBites to repair, but ... meh.

GA has a county named Houston and pronounced House-ton. But I feel like GA does stuff like that with names more often than any other state I've lived.

Decided to cancel the Russell speed bleeders and get the Motive Power Bleeder instead for an extra $32 for a total of ~$62.

Hopefully I can reuse it for another vehicle without an expensive adapter.

Good move. If the bleeders aren't crusty.

I built a power bleeder from a pump sprayer and a power probe BA10 adapter for Toyota vehicles.

Took a look at the brake bleeders today.

The all have the rubber caps to keep out the salt so hopefully I can tweak them daily with rust penetrant to free up.

Not looking to replace brake calipers in 20F weather.
