Side Mirrors w/ OEM Puddle Lights on a Truck w/o Puddle Lights?

I did a search but only seemed to find posts about splicing in non OEM puddle lights. Anyone tried putting side mirrors with OEM puddle lights on a truck that didn't come with them from the factory? Wondering if they would still work? Sorta hopeful that Toyota just pre-wired all the trucks that way from the factory...

 

They didn't, some have it and some don't.
My 2014 SR5 mirror plug has no power for the turn signal or puddle lights.
I had to run my own wiring.

Here is the schematic for the puddle lights.
You can test your plug with a DMM to see if it's hot.
You just need to figure out what turns it on, usually unlocking the doors with the key fob turns puddle lights on, then they go off with a closed door or they time out.



M5 and N6 are the mirror plugs in the door.
Test pin 6 and pin 5 to see if it's hot.


There are a few threads on installing puddle lights in non-puddle light housings and running your own wires.

 

This is awesome, thanks for the info! Definitely gonna pull a mirror and throw a tester on those pins to see if I'm lucky enough to have the wiring already there.

 

I don't think my truck even has those wires in it..

 

Yeah, I guess looking to see if they even exist on mine would be a good place to start...

 

What year is your Tundra? Mine is a 2018 and my door side harness is wired for turn signals. You just need to add a pin to the mirror side and change the mirror glass. Don't know about puddle lights.

 

Mine's a 2015 SR5/TRD Offroad. That would be sweet if I could also add turn signals!

 

This is the + pin for the blinker on a 2018. That plug is from the door side. You just need to add the pin on the mirror plug and the new glass.

My 2018 Limited’s OEM mirrors did NOT come with turn signals, but when I bought my tow mirrors, lo and behold the turn signals on them worked, so at least the turn signals came prewired from the factory. Never been able to find if they were also prewired for the puddle lights…

 

Mine originally had OEM tow mirrors on it when I purchased it, and the turn signals worked, so I guess mine was pre-wired for that as well. Guess I could buy some puddle light mirrors and see if they work, you know, in the name of science.

 

Where’s everyone buying oem mirrors from?
