    Hi everyone,

Curious if anyone has had this problem. Twice now, the digital instrument cluster has gone black. The brightness setting adjustment doesn't work. Truck drives fine and infotainment screen is fine.

Both times, I've turned off the truck and after 15-30 min, everything works as it should. If it's a quick off/start, it won't work.

I'm going to bring into dealer but wanted to see if anyone has had this issue before. Thanks!

    JSY

My Capstone did this as well, except after 24 hours and a battery disconnect it would work again. I sold the truck before any diagnosis.

Just happened to me today. Currently letting it sit to see if it comes back. Heads up and center screen fine.

My TRD Pro exhibited the same issue. It's at the dealer now getting investigated with an open case. Seems like a software bug to me.

We've come so far with technology and making it reliable etc... Then go beyond and have to take three steps back. LOL
    Hopefully just a minor bug.

Same thing happened to mine last week. Drove it to the dealership immediately and started working after they turned the truck off then back on. They also ran a code check but nothing came back.

Given the shortages of materials and components, which has effected so many industries, makes me wonder what compromises the auto manufacturers have had to make in order to produce these vehicles in mass. As far as perfection goes, if these trucks weren't the cost of a luxury vehicle maybe it wouldn't be a big deal. But at the price of these trucks, especially on the higher trims, a certain level of quality is expected.

My 2023 Pro was black screened when I got off work tonight. Going to let it rest for 30 minutes, and check it, and then do a battery reset to see if that resolves the issue. I'll be calling the dealership tomorrow as well.

Since it's been a while, has anyone that had this issue previously have more info or a permanent fix, diagnosis, anything?

I have experienced this a couple times over the last week on my Pro too. Glad I’m not the only one. I’m having the dealer look at it tomorrow.

Update: my dealer ran a full diagnostic a few weeks back and created a case with Toyota corporate. They are aware of the issue. They asked that if it happens again that I call back to document if my turn signals and hazard lights are still working (which they are) to help them better triage the issue. I haven't had any issues since but forgot to provide an update here.

So did the dealership actually “fix” anything? I’m just curious if I should keep the appointment I have tomorrow. It seems like if I turn it off and let it sit for a few minutes and turn it back on, it’s back to normal. Thanks for the info.

When I brought it to them there was nothing to fix as it came back on its own after sitting for an hour. I brought it in so it was documented in case I had further issues.

I just got my truck back, and no surprise, they couldn't recreate the black screen on startup. They said they unplugged the battery, let it sit for a couple hours, and then did a hard reset. Not that I was expecting anything different, just sharing my experience as well to confirm there still isn't an official fix from Toyota yet.

Just happened to me tonight at 1200 miles. Had a couple of stops to make and after the third one started working again.

Happened to me today 1800 miles. Couple on’s and offs cluster was still black, turned off and let sit for 30-35 minutes, still black. Read somewhere where dealer asked if hazards lights showed on display, so decided to turn on hazard lights while truck was off then started and cluster came on. Not sure if just a fluke. Still scheduling appt with dealership for diagnostic and documentation of issue.

Happend to me today for the first time. 7400 miles on my Limited Crewmax 4x4. Wouldn't come back on even though I restarted the truck multiple times. So I drove to the dealer. I parked and walked in told them what was happening. Walked back out to my truck with the guy over the counter, cause he didn't believe me. When we turned it back on it lit up like nothing was wrong......

The stop sale makes sense. I was supposed to have my 23 platinum the 19th of January then the day before I was gonna get it, I was told it was held up at port and it may be more than a month till it gets shipped..

I'm not sure. Someone mentioned it but I didn't confirm. I just know they said it will be a month or more till they let it ship

My 2023 Tundra TRD Pro just lost the LCD cluster today at 1700 miles. It's very cold and snowy where I live today, but this is the first time it happened. I'm going to leave it off overnight and see what happens when I wake up.

If it's still black I'm headed to the dealership.

My 1794 hybrid had the black screen this morning (first time) and it has around 2,400 miles. I started it up a while ago (sat for about 1.5hrs) and the screen was working. Hoping it doesn't happen again.

I have the 23 TRD Pro. Mine went black last week. Happened twice and without researching took it to the dealer. The dealer held onto the car since they said its a safety issue and wont release back to me until they get it fixed. They said they'd order the cluster in two weeks at which time they'll give me an updated ETA. Gave me a rental to use in the interim. Wondering how you all got your trucks back.

From what I've read here, the cluster won't change a thing, it's all software related, and there's a fix coming out by 15 Feb, so approx 3 weeks out if not already out.

People seem to be shutting their trucks off for over 1hr and it's back to normal after

Add my 1,500 mile '23 Platinum to the list. No dash this morning. I'll restart it in a little while.

My 2023 TRD Pro instrument panel went black three times. Toyota dealer had me leave my truck with them and provided me a loaner. Dealer said Toyota is quarantining the trucks until a fix is provided citing safety concerns. Hope this helps.
