Talk to me about 37s…

Hi all,

I’m currently running 35s on zero offset 20x12.5” rim with a 7” pro comp lift. I would like to run 37s when the life of these 35s run out (probably in about 10k miles). With a zero offset could I run the 37s without a chop? I’m interested in moving up, especially with such a big lift, would probably re-gear as well. Let me know your thoughts/experiences with this, thank you!

 

Chop it. With a 7 inch lift you already have cut your crossmember, why the apprehension about a bmc?

You will not run 37s without a BMC/CMC.
Especially, with zero offset.

 

You make a good point, I guess my biggest concern is who in my area does that type of work, I’m certainly not qualified/knowledgeable enough to do that myself. I hesitated in my Tacoma years ago but now I don’t have a real good reason to worry other than figuring out who can do it that doesn’t butcher it lol

 

Just mark it using a conservative mindset then start cutting along your marks using a grinder with a new cutting wheel. Once you've cut it all, if you need more, grind more. You can't go wrong with a little less at first then more as you need it.

I’m not as familiar with the Tundra as I was with my Taco, I won’t need to add another plate to reinforce anything, it’s just a simple cut? I’ve obviously not researched it closely, just going off my experience with CMCs on the Tacomas and having to “relocate” the cab mount after cutting.

 

I love my truck, the more I look at it the more I want 37s on it lol

 

No, some people don't even use a plate to cover up the cut lol. I did though

The plate is cosmetic. It holds no structural value really.

 

I’ve cut my Body mount for 37s and I haven’t had a chance to plate it back yet. No issues so far. Actually have had the plates just been too busy to have them welded in. I did the same on my Tacoma and drove it for two years I played and then sold it like that.

 

Just shoot it with some paint to inhibit rust and send it

 

Yeah, BMC is simple and there is really zero risk. Using the cut off wheel is the easiest part...I have a welder and did the plate myself.
