    @tripleconpanna nailed it.
    We’ve got a 2017 Forester (wife’s), 2008 Forester (daughter 1) and 2011 Impreza Sedan (daughter 2). Daughter 1 had a 2008 Impreza Hatchback previously. My first car was an ‘87 GL Hatchback 2-door. Had a ‘92 Wagon right out of college for a couple years too.
    The AWD system is always on with equal power to all wheels, and has a long proven track record. There’s a reason they are the most popular brand of vehicle in the PNW.

    Their turbo’d engines have a reputation of having some quirks but I think a lot of that comes from the WRX/STI ricer crowd doing stupid shit to them. Take care of regular maintenance and don’t overly mod them and you’re in good hands. All of ours are NA engines.

    They also have a reputation of head gasket issues at/around 100k miles. That’s largely been eliminated in the more recent years with more robust HG designs/materials, but is something to consider/inspect closely on used ones. The nature of a horizontal engine I guess. Working on them can be a bitch with the engine set down so low in the bay, but their oil changes are super easy with the filter sitting upright next to the oil fill tube.

    I’m personally not a big fan of the CVT transmission, but we’ve had no issues with the one in my wife’s rig for 90k miles.

    Well, to my SS — :santa2: you're a good person, THANK YOU for resending another since the first one got lost somehow. This thing is awesome! Stoked to add it to my kershaw collection. Happy Holidays!

    I’ve heard issues with AC compressors on a few different instances and my boss had an issue with his cvt that he eventually lemon lawed. But almost everyone else I’ve spoke to loves them. If you head up to VT, all you’ll find are Subarus and old Saabs.

    It would be a solid platform for him, and if he throws on a set Blizzaks (studded if necessary) during the winter he'll have no issues :thumbsup:

    Doesn’t hurt/help that Portland is a direct import dock for the Japanese Subies. They crank a good number out in the US now, but still a shit-ton coming in at the port. Ironically, though, it’s usually cheaper to buy one elsewhere than here in the land of subie import.

    Thanks y'all! That gives me a lot more confidence in supporting his wishes. I want to help him get into it before he moves to wherever he ends up, and it will be either a new or late model, low mileage used. From what I have seen, my second option is kind of a unicorn.

    Hung over Santa wandered over to the house dropped off my package while I ran into town. This is perfect timing since I'm doing 2 pork loins for new years! I may try 2 different ones. Floating golf balls will be fun for the pool and/or the pond with some buddies!
    Thanks my Texan Santa!

    Both. I have a double cab not a crew max. I have a column shifter and no center console for the AJT parts. Some of the AJT parts fit like the vent covers but looks like it was a whole blackout kit and wondering if I could exchange the parts I cant use for other parts that fit my truck. I am so grateful but if there's a way that would be awesome.
