Love it. I stepped up from a '15 Tacoma. We purchased a bit larger camper (4,000 lbs. dry) and the taco wasn't quite up to the task. The Tundra pulls it beautifully. Tons of cabin room and by far the nicest vehicle I've ever owned. The main complaints I hear on here, wind noise? hard seat? All non issues for me.
The things I do find annoying are the infotainment center is buggy (50% of that is the fault of android auto, not Toyota)
Nanny features. When I'm hooking up/unhooking my camper It has so many damn alarms going off that you just get numb to it all. I'd like to be able to back up a few inches with the door open.
Other than that, I love the way the truck looks and drives.

Going into my second week of owning a 23 CM Limited TRD and love the truck. I traded in a 3 series BMW for this truck as my needs have changed and there is very little I miss from the BMW. The tech and safety features are great, it drives well, doesn't feel like a large vehicle, and the wind noise is on par or better than my BMW was - it's a few decibels quieter actually. I was very nervous about the truck after frequenting the forums and reading the horror stories, but this is the best truck I have owned. The thing that I like most is that I don't see 400 of these driving around town.

Did you have wind noise near your head during a crosswind on your taco? Mine had it from the day I got it with no real good fix

I have a '22 Platinum and love my truck except for a few issues. These only happen sometimes - not always, but are very frustrating! I've seen them discussed here, but I don't believe some will be fixed on the '22 - maybe a future model. If they are and anyone knows, please let me know. Thank you!

For some reason when I unlock my truck and then go to get in, it locks itself - crazy! The truck lunges from park to drive sometimes as if I was hitting the gas hard and jerks people. Also have had issues with the infotainment system - at times the buttons along the left side of the screen are missing, it lacks better split screen options, and occasionally first time calls are pure noise (have to hang up and dial again). Sometimes I have a loud thud when I press the start engine button that sounds like something breaking in the transmission or somewhere. I'm also very disappointed with the lack of any lighting along the interior row of buttons for the A/C (where the panoramic view button, etc. is) - can't see it at all at night!! Seriously disappointed in Toyota with these issues and lack of simple features especially on a Platinum model. This isn't their first rodeo building a vehicle and consumer reports just listed the 22 Tundra as non-reliable for the first time. :(

I got mine in early October and I'm considering trading for a Tacoma for a few reasons...

#1 - The main annoyance - Barely any air pressure from the dash vents when the heater is on. The rear vents blow like a hurricane though. If i close them, they whistle. Even with them closed though, still barely any air from the dash vents. I personally prefer my dash vents for heat so this is a major annoyance. I had an 08 Tundra that worked perfectly. Our 22 4runner will melt your face, my friends tacoma will as well. I just drove home from work and it was -10 outside and the heater was overall, very disappointing.

#2 - Bluetooth connectivity - The infotainment system will connect & disconnect 20-30 times over the course of 3-4 minutes before staying connected and playing music. Bluetooth works better for the podcasts I enjoy. Android auto works decently, but when I'm listening to a podcast while connected via AA, the system thinks the audio is paused and wont allow the volume to be adjusted. It also freezes from time to time so I have to turn the truck off and back on again to get the connection process started again.

#3 Interior lighting - No dome light over front seats, no light in glove box. Trying to get something out of the glove box at night is not easy. My 2008 had great lighting inside. I was really surprised to see there is no light in the glove box. Out of all the vehicles I've owned over the last 15 years, this is the only one that doesn't have a lit glove box.

#4 Collision warning in 4lo - They included the pitch/roll gauge inside the gauge cluster which is an awesome feature. The problem is that in 4lo, the warning message about the anti-collision system wont go away. You can clear it, and it just pops right back up and stays on your screen the entire time. I know the pitch/roll is on the infotainment screen when you have the cameras on, but I use that screen for off road navigation and music.

I know some of this may seem nitpicky to some, but they are festering annoyances that really hurt my day-to-day driving experience. There is a lot I really like about the truck. I think it's one of the best looking trucks I've ever seen and I love the look and feel of the interior. And I'm THRILLED they put a rear locker in the trd off road. I've put it to use a few times on trails already.

If I knew all of this before I bought the truck, I probably would have passed and bought a tacoma.

@Nelson: Do I recall correctly that you posted about the surge in trans when shifting out of P to D before? If not, then someone else also posted this same problem. Because of that post I've paid special attention to our 1 week old 1794. Even this week when it sat outside at 15 deg and I started driving within maybe 20 seconds of starting there was no surge at all. Just a smooth shift. My point is that I fear there is a problem with your trans. Maybe it's time for a dealer trip. Just a thought :monocle: Secondly, somewhere I think I read that Toyota will be releasing a software update in Feb. Someone else can correct/clarify this if they have something definitive.

I wish a someone could write an America Mode or Freedom Mode that let's me drive with the door open etc and turns off every nanny alarm and beep. I really can't stand all the beeping.

Just purchased my very first Tundra. A 2023 Sr5 sport. I come from years as a jeep owner having had several wranglers and most recently a 2020 gladiator. Sadly with Jeeps ongoing paint issues and lack of taking responsibility, it was time to say see ya! That being said I love my new truck! All the bells and whistles, while they are increasingly becoming annoying, I am shocked at what is included at the 58k price point. In comparison to wrangler and gladiators, well let’s just say they can’t. Sure I’ll miss taking the top and doors off but as a New York resident, what good is that really. My new Tundra in Lunar Rock is awesome! It’s an eye catcher for sure and the new body style, well it’s the best looking full size truck on the market, topped only by the Tundra TRD pro. But 70k just wasn’t in the cards! The room and the features sold me right away. The camera rear view mirror has got to be one of my favorites of all. So now that I’ve put roughly 100 miles in it let me say there are a few draw backs. Lighting for one. No cabin light over the seats seems silly! No light in the glove box, unheard of. Auto high beam, not really necessary. And winter time with all these sensors and road dirt, snow and slush…well it’s a nightmare of alerts on the dash. While I appreciate the safety features, unfortunately the season where one would use them most is also the most problematic because they are constantly being obstructed. So for now I’m still obviously getting use to it all. But one thing I can not get use to is the remote start! Why the hell does it shut off when I unlock the truck. Why doesn’t it stay running till I depress the break and start it up again. Shutting it off seems so ridiculous to me. Is there anything that anyone knows about that they would recommend changing in settings to make life with a Tundra more enjoyable?? Thanks I’m advance!

You already have the American mode. If it wasn’t for the threat of frivolous and high damage lawsuits, you wouldn’t be dealing with this.

What is more American than a corporation hedging against litigation by taking it to the consumer?

Right now i'm 98% happy with my platinum... the only problem so far is some dealers don't seem willing and/or want to take care of some small issues that have popped up that are very common on the 22s. Platinum badge coming up, dimples on the fenders, the clear protective sticker near the wheel well starting peeling up. Responses from local dealer "oh we can peel that off for you, it doesn't need to be there". "Thats the 1st we've heard of the the fender dimple issue". "we can fix the platinum badge but your going to have to leave the truck here for a week so the adhesive can adhere correctly". Yeah whatever excuses excuses. My local dealer sucks! I didn't buy my truck there, maybe that has to do with it.

I am in alignment with your thoughts on the Tundra. The nanny stuff is a PITA when hooking up unhooking. I have the door open and am unbuckled and can't pull the truck forward 3"......ughhhh.

But honestly that is a pretty small inconvenience for how nice everything else is. I don't find the infotainment very buggy with apple car play at all. The biggest issue I have is if I am using my Binzi box watching live TV and then want to switch back to my phone for navigation.....that is difficult sometimes.

Ill say I was a bit worried after all the stuff I saw on here at first. I got my truck though and am very happy, Power great love it, comfort very good its a 1794 it should be, looks I love it I have seen the oh its ugly comments , but the amount of people who think it looks really good while I'm out and about tells me a different story. Lots of snow where I live recently , and she has handled great, never had an issue switching in and out of 4wd so not having full time doesn't bother me. I like that Toyota stuck with a system they know stands the test of time. Would have preferred a rotary dial like the Tacoma but that's being picky.

My only dislikes is door rattle with music, I will ask the dealer if they can address it but I plan on sound deadening the doors anyway, and gas mileage but I didn't buy it for that.

No, I never posted about that but I do recall someone also complained about this issue. Not sure if they ever resolved it, but difficult to duplicate as it doesn't happen all the time.

I have had the same issue with the Platinum badges on the doors peeling off and have spoken to other who experienced this exact same issue. I was told Toyota used the incorrect 3M tape to get them out the door and are aware of the issue. I had my dealer order me new badges and they will replace them as soon as they come in. Shocked at Toyota quality for this and other much more important things on such an expensive truck. I'm going to look for the dimples and wheel well - I haven't had those thank goodness!

I am happy with mine. It has been quiet, fuel economy is roughly 19 mph with heavy interstate driving in Texas at 75+ mph.

No wind noise, no rattles, no real infotainment issues. I’m overall pretty happy, I can now haul wind with the best of them. I wish I got the 4WD, but I couldn’t name one time I would have needed it, so. . .

The dealer applied PPF had to come off as it was applied poorly and the cat shield is a bit thin for my taste. With that said, I negotiated both of those out the price, so :notsure:.

One of the side trims that say 1794 and stretch across the doors was not aligned between doors and had to be fixed. That was 30 minutes with a heat gun, an eraser wheel, and some VHB tape. The other issue was with the AC having to be turned on every time I got in. Changing the setting to off instead of on in the infotainment settings fixed that. Counterintuitive, but again, 15 minutes of my time and I’m done with the problem.

Honestly the truck is done up very well for someone who wants to pretend they need a truck or needs one rarely. So it fits my requirements to a T. If you need a truck, it may excel at that too, just I don’t know.

You can adjust the sensitivity / turn off a good bit using the steering wheel control and the OSD in the dashboard above the wheel. If inclement weather is causing them to freak out, turning them off may be better than watching them tell you off and on how they can’t cope. Most systems have this issue, so I don’t know if Toyota can fix it as it is just a technology limit at this point. I live in the south, so it has to truly downpour hard before I lose the assistance package.

For cabin lights, search forums as a couple people have done some workarounds by locating lights in other places. I’m not saying they shouldn’t have done better, but you can either make lemonade or deal with the lemons.

having owned a bunch of built 2gens and this 3rd gen I’ll say that I get more looks, honks, air fives, and neck breakers with the 3rd gen vs the others. Also tons of people taking pics in parking lots

I am only about 300 miles in on my 1794 and love it. Have not had any of the issues some others have reported. No rattles, no wind noise etc. Stereo sounds good after I adjusted the three band "equalizer". It's an awesome truck as far as I'm concerned.

Oh, hell yeah. The Tacoma and the Honda element I had before that both did it. They would both start singing with a solid tone when the wind was right.
The Tundra is downright quiet compared to those.

Same here, 150 miles on Nov 11 build of 1794 TRD. I just started giving it some more gas on acceleration and it's plenty perky for me. Probably get the fake engine sound turned off at some point. No infotainment glitches, no wind noise, just a great truck so far. Time is the proving ground though.

I have a '23 TRD PRO. Not a single issue. No creaks, rattles, wind noise. HVAC works as it should as does the Qi charger. Also, I don't care about A-4HI.

    Awesome truck.

I just got the truck so I haven’t towed just yet. However I realized I do have a habit of rolling the truck forward with the door propped and getting hit with the brake. I noticed if you shift back to park and back to drive or reverse, it will override and let you move with the door open. I wish the parking button would simply override it but the extra shift is better than nothing.

So here's something new... this morning I was dropping off my girlfriend for work and my son was in the back seat of my '22 Tundra Platinum - we each had our seat-belts on. I left the truck running and got out of the truck to open the passenger door for my girlfriend, then got back in the truck. My son, who was in the back, climbed into the front seat and put on his seat-belt. I started to drive away and suddenly the seat-belt alarm started dinging saying the passenger in the back seat didn't have a seat-belt on. WTF? No one was back there anymore. It finally went off after about 3 mins but I was thinking I'd have to put the car into park and shut off the ignition and restart the vehicle to reset this at a stop light.

Not sure if there is a pressure sensor in the seat to detect a passenger and it's only read when the vehicle starts? But this is yet another engineering error from Toyota. I hope they are reading these forums and someone care report these programming issues to Toyota so they can update their firmwares! I would really like a lot of software updates to my '22 Platinum!

On that note, I also dislike that I can't move the truck forward or backward a little bit at a very slow speed while my driver door is open!! I see others commenting on this too and hope Toyota makes their software smarter to only do this at a higher speed or if the driver has their seat-belt on or something. I haven't tried disabling auto braking to see if this goes away, but shouldn't have to do that just to adjust the truck position sometimes.

Will never install TRD branded stuff on my Truck
I sold my 2011 Ram 2500 4x4 with 8" lift on 37's for my 2023 Tundra. Regret is missing the ole girl. Guess need to make memories with the new girl friend...lol. Does suck seeing so many Neg reviews. I prey this tundra will last as long.

22 SR5 TRD OR Army Green
22 TRD OR SR5 CM 5.5 Army Green. Bought used with 8500 on it. Now have 11,500.

    Pros-
Power, plenty of power, engine and transmission are paired very well.
    CM is very roomy
Mileage on highway is great, especially in cruise with eco. Low 20’s up to 25 even! - not hard to get at 55-65mpg.
Looks - people gawk at this truck. I receive compliments nearly every day from strangers in parking lots and so on. This design, love or hate it, is polarizing. You know you did something when people talk, good or bad, well Toyota did something here. People talk about it. It’s not just another pick up.
Value - SR5 with a TRD premium package is a great value when you compare it to other brands.
Comfort -Soft Tex seats are great. I somewhat agree with the observation about the HVAC system being underwhelming (in theory) but in reality the cabin temp is plenty, I often have to shut it off or turn it down as it gets very warm. I think there may be some fancy engineering here that does not seem intuitive at first but the bottom line is that the truck gets plenty warm. Have not had a chance for AC and won’t until next summer.

Shoulder Shrugs from reading this forum-
Plastic seat drivers side panel. It cracked, and real door window moldings curled, both replaced free of charge by dealer. Both replacements are much better quality. Water under the bridge.
Start/Stop. Do not like it, but it rarely actually seems to really want to engage. I must drive real smooth as the dash is always telling me to press down on the brake more. This is only when I forget to hit the button. I typically just do that. 1st world minor annoyance.
Wind Noise - there is some. It’s still very quiet overall. It’s an SR5 , now if I had a Platinum, 1794, or Capstone, maybe it’s a complaint. IDK.
Infotainment System - Took me a minute to navigate it, now it’s a breeze. Apple Car Play is great. Had a very minor irritation once where I had to enter my PIN. Seems like a non issue to me.

    Cons-
Rear bumper step. Should have been standard equipment. As this is a truck it needs to be useable.
Auto 4 Wheel drive. - They know how to do it. They should have done it. This is a very good feature to have driving in winter, ESPECIALLY in the days following a snow storm, where we will have clear main roads, icy patches in shady spots, unplowed residential streets, parking lots which were not properly cleared etc. I am happy to shift back and forth and it’s just fine, but it would be nice.
Nannyism- This is a result of society. Nothing we can do except turn some of them off. Not a Toyota fault. We started calling the truck “The Big Green Nanny” lol

Would we buy it again? Oh yeah no doubt. Love driving this thing. Very capable machine. Killer looks. Great performance. Comfortable. Great value.

This is my 3rd Toyota truck, had an 85 (was wore out and busted when I got it, wrecked soon after and sent to the junkyard), a 02 Tacoma which was great little truck, underpowered a tad, and small, but tough and simple. I think that generation of Tacoma was the best one.

Now this Tundra. Can’t wait to see how it goes thru the years. Looking forward to many adventures and projects/work we will use it for.

Sorry for the long post. TLDR= it’s a great truck!
