How much nicer does it drive with the tune? I have absolutely hated the way the transmission feels since the day i supercharged it. I'm working with OTT to hopefully get it tuned after the holidays.

I can't wait to get OTT on mine. Even without the s/c the transmission has some minor issues. And they've been doing a lot of work on transmission tuning

I'm just glad that the ECU opened up on 2019+ for HPTuners like 2 months after I bought my truck!

Well thank you sir! Do you by chance know if you can modify the file yourself or is it locked? I tune my Camaro with HPtuners and i make changes pretty regularly. I'm assuming i won't need to change much if anything to OTT's tune by i would like the option if i need/want to.

If you have your own HPTuners hardware, they usually do no cost revisions for you

When I was trying to find a shop to install my headers, I ran into one that would only install them if they were stainless works. I thought it was a little odd.

That is odd. A local shop owner that's installed quite a few sets said he prefers Kooks and ARH due to fitment. Then stainless works followed by JBA.

I have IPT valve body as well before supercharged, so I can't tell if anything transmission related changed with the tune, still drives the same in terms of shifting for me, it shifts very quick.

Compare to before, there's lot more mid-range, and I also don't have the early shift at first gear compare to previous tune, it tows smoother as well.

Stainless works requires you to remove the studs and use the bolts they supply, it makes install easier, biggest reason I went with it was because everyone I knew who've had SW's stuff has zero issue with rust and fitment.

ARH and Kook do not have the ERG tubes, that's one thing to keep in mind, it was a must for me.

JBA's quality is pretty shoddy, I've had experience with them in the past on other cars, and I would not buy any of their products again.

Oh that makes sense. What’s significant about the ERG tubes. Because I saw those and was wondering what that was for.

emission, during cold starts most engine would have egr to help with warming up and reduce emission, you can probably disable it via HP tuner now but at that time it was not possible for 2020+ trucks.

You can definitely disable it with HPTuners. But i'm not sure I'd install LTH withouth the EGR tube on a head that has it. At least with the tacoma's, the head ports are different shape on the engines w/egr (SAIS) tubes than the ones without it. You can buy block off plates for the SAIS tubes themselves.

Does anyone know if that's true for Tundra?

You don't need a block off plate, the flanges will just simply block them.

This is the flange on the SW headers, so with kooks and arh, that's just flat surface.

Be prepare with the 1-2 shift, sometimes its on the rough side, the best way I can explain it is imagine manual valve body automatic transmission, or first gen DSG on Volkswagens.

when towing or in 4hi its beautiful, but when just driving around, can take some to get used to.

I like it that way. I built my transmission in my Cummins I had before the tundra to snap your neck when it shifted. Used to blow the tires off when it shifted to second gear on 35's. That thing was a burnout machine!

I have LX570/Land Cruiser Doug Thorleys, they don't have the air deal. I have supplemental air tuned out by ViktorG's HP tune. Do I need the block off plate? (I have them)

I am saving my pennies for an SC, but would like to get these in.

I got a CEL today going 75mph. First CEL in this Tundra. 22k with the Maggie (16k installed). Was code P0101 MAF which sounds to be very common. It was 18 degrees F and have Dirty Deeds exhaust and did the throttle body bypass. Guessing it’s related to the cold and the extra air plus throttle being colder than normal. Cleared it and no issues after that in same conditions. Interesting in any event.

You will only get that 40HP with NA engine not SC. I'm surprised David at Pro Speed said this considering the development of their fuel system for our trucks was originally and specifically designed to compensate for the power loss that customers with long tubes headers were experiencing. This was 6-7 years ago when Prospeed figured out that there was a power loss with long tube headers and they needed to upgrade the fuel system to run safe AFR’s for getting the power back. It was actually a previous members truck I’m gonna have to go back in my memory banks to figure out who it was but anyways, that was the first time Prospeed experimented with injectors and a different fuel pump, which ultimately led to their fuel system so that he could get back the power loss that he had from the headers. Like I have learned on this thread several times over and I should just keep my mouth shut, guys believe what they want to believe doesn't matter. Spend the money find out for yourself I don't care. Kieth at Dirty Deeds always says you can't screw up an exhaust on these 5.7's that have a supercharger UNLESS you add long tube headers which he NEVER recomends with a supercharger. I have trucks with and without LTH and superchargers, hell I think I have supercharged almost a dozen Toyota 5.7’s over the last 13-14 years but what do I know other than you can push the STOCK engine to it's mechanical ability 600-620 crank HP without LTH easier than with. Now if we're talking building a new block/heads that's a different story. I am talking with the stock engine block like 99.9% of the people on this thread are running. One of my fastest trucks was a 2011 flex fuel tundra that Sparks Toyota installed a maggy supercharger with the stock bully dog tune. It had a stock exhaust on it although it did have 488 gears running 33” tires it Dynoed 484 rear wheel horsepower without any other mods.

Well first, there is no need to “keep your mouth shut”. This is a pretty friendly thread of guys just trying to learn what makes these trucks run at their max potential and everything is open for discussion. Usually when there is 2 sides the truth is somewhere in the middle. My understanding of Prospeeds development of their fuel system was to try to eliminate any lean conditions that were causing the cylinder rings to get hot/expand and blow due to their tight gaps. As for what David and Chris from PS said, I’ll post some photos directly from snippets of a post on Facebook where someone asked about the benefits of headers last year. No disrespect to Keith as he is a total guru in many regards, but there are other players at the cutting edge of tundra performance with differing opinions. Keith’s testing I believe was also done with JBA headers which don’t flow as well as some of the other brands. I don’t believe his testing included proper tuning for them either. Keith was always a proponent of the bullydog tune which has since been lambasted as total junk and dangerous for the engine. The facts have changed over the years. All of this said, I personally don’t think the benefit is worth it so I won’t be going the header route myself either. For someone looking for the absolute max HP build though, it’s definitely a piece of the puzzle.
