hi, im rebuilding a st generation tundra. I rolled over in my 4x4 tundra, and got totaled. i bought a 2x4 with damaged motor. took the motor out and put my wrecked 4x4 engine with transmision and installed it on the 2x4 body. along with harness computer and everything i could think of to make the 4x4 engine work on the 2x4 body. I got the engine to turn over and run but for some reason i think its stuck on protection mode or something cause it will only accelerate passed half pedal and the throtle body valve will opens like a querter of the way. i already changed tps and still the same thing. can anybody help me through this problem. ive been stuck on this problem over 2 weeks already.

Can you at least give us a year on the original truck, and for the donor engine so we have a clue what to tell you here? Those are slightly critical details. There are a couple of radical differences between the earlier models and later models.

You hit all the big ones you'd normally gripe about: Always use the ECU and harness that pair with the donor motor...

In '01 that should be drive by cable vs. drive by wire, are you 100% certain you adjusted the throttle cable properly, thus it's not engaging until you reach half-depression?

Any codes pending or stored in the ECU?

Did you clear the ECU after install, to start with a clean slate?

Well im not sure about that atleast i think i did, as a matter of fact, yeah . It throws a few codes but once its running it dont give me any codes, or it does but they are diffrent codes

These codes would indicate a problem with both driver side O2 sensors, the one before and the one after the cat. That would cause shitty running.

I'm not saying both O2 sensors won't fail at the same time, but I'd check the wiring to both to make sure it hasn't been cut or damaged before committing to new parts.

Generally speaking, if one O2 sensor goes bad, I replace both on that side of the exhaust.

You'll want to use Denso O2 sensors (OEM). Don't buy non-OEM brands to save a buck. There's a high likelihood you'll continue popping codes with non-DENSO.

Did someone steal your cats recently, or did you replace your cats with aftermarket cats?

P0155 ==> Passenger side O2 sensor wire and/or sensor failure
P0161 ==> O2 sensor heater malfunction, could suggest wiring problem

Seeing those last two, along with the ones in from my last post, you've either had an O2 problem for a long time and slowly 3 of 4 failed, or you've had a major wiring problem happen recently, rodents chewing through wires, fire burning wires, or you've installed non-OEM O2 sensors which aren't sending proper feedback, or you spliced the OEM wires (O2 can be really sensitive to spliced connections) to install aftermarket O2 sensors, OR maybe this is just a different truck. If you're in the salt/rust belt, could also be bad ground in your harness somewhere. I know many of us hate emissions, but the ECU on EFI vehicles rely on input from these sensors to run properly. If you've unplugged your O2 sensors intentionally, plug them back in.

Almost all of these next codes suggest something is unplugged to the throttle body assembly, throttle position sensor has maybe failed (you can test it), or you've a massive failure of the TB assembly, somehow. Read on for more info.

P0773 ==> Transmission shift solenoid problem --> I'd ignore this until you get the O2 issues worked out and clear ECU
    P1120 ==> Throttle position sensor wiring/sensor malfunction
P1126 ==> Suggests issue w/throttle body assembly, wiring fault to it, or other fail. It will cause 'limp mode'. Check its wiring, also check this for MAF and TB cleaning.
P1129 ==> Throttle control malfunction, given prior codes, I'd suspect throttle body assembly wiring fault or failure
P1176 ==> Suggests a problem, again, with throttle body, causing ECM to not know where throttle position is.

Rodents love the wiring in these trucks. Soy-based casings. It's food for them. If the trucks sit, and you're in an area with rodents...
