As you know RCI is a good company and their options for the Tacoma are great just like the Tundra. They offer 5 degree sliders with nice top plates. Caliraised has the "step edition" rock sliders which I'm assuming you saw already. Their Chinese lights they rebrand and sell for more aren't all that great but I believe the rest of their products are decent. If you wanted a trans skid that would play real well with your TRD skid CBI is an option although the price is eye-watering as are the rest of their products. Another slider option that not everyone knows kind of local to me is these: https://www.4xinnovations.com/2016-2023-Tacoma-Bolt-On-Sliders--ACLB-or-DCSB_p_166.html also these appear to be up your alley but haven't actually read anything about them: https://tacomabeast.com/collections...tacoma-double-cab-short-bed-revo-step-sliders Also, what skids do you plan on getting and is retaining the TRD skid important to you?

I'd look at the DeMello Hybrids...

    https://www.demello-offroad.com/tacoma-2016-2017-hybrid-bolt-on-sliders

Link says 2016-2017, but website shows through '22, so not sure if they'll work w/your '23. But, I'd imagine if they don't there is a product coming out shortly.

The Hybrids allow you to bolt in place like you would a traditional step; they seem to have good coverage and a traditional slider design; and if you choose to convert to a true 'slider' that will hold the weight of the truck, etc. then you drill/bolt into frame w/o removing them and you're good to go.

These are what I'm putting on my PRO.

I got a chance to tour the Cali Raised fab shop in Ft Worth when I was there in September - top notch facility and some great detail in fabrication. I agree on the lights, but wouldn’t hesitate to recommend their fabricated items if they check your other boxes

I wish I could get paid for that!

The only think that has me looking anywhere other than RCI for sliders is that I hate their top steps. I've got a Cali Raised bed rack, so I agree that their fab stuff is solid.

Not sure I need skids beyond the Pro skid, which I want to keep, and then cat guards. The Cali Raised ones appeal because I don't have to have another skid plate to attach them. They also are some of the better ventilated options I've seen. https://caliraisedled.com/products/catalytic-converter-shield-tacoma-2016-2022 All in all, I plan to take it easier on the Taco than I did the Tundra and use my RZR for the rougher stuff, so cat protection is the main concern to start with.

If I'm going to the frame I want full slider ability with no drill and no weld. Those are my prerequisites for a slider.

Suggestion appreciated, but I don't know that I can give them money after the mishandling customers I witnessed on here. They ignored a customer who had a bumper that would not accept the parking sensor, and then they tried to sweep their roof rack fiasco under the rug. Just left a bad taste in my mouth. Sucks, because I love symmetry and their logo looks good on their products. I much prefer it to the RCI, CBI, C4, etc. cut outs.

If he wants to be dumb and revive a month old thread for an even older comment in order to attack a mod, that's his problem. Personally, were I in his situation, I'd PM the mod or use the Chat with Staff section. Trying to call out staff publicly seldom ends well, even if you have a good point. The inmates aren't allowed to run the asylum, even if they have an occasional good idea. In this case, I don't think I get what he's angry at Chris for in the first place. Sounds like personal beef.

Tempted to spring for the annual subscription to Toyota info and just add a “Buy me coffee” link in the EWD threads to be able to dig up better/deeper info for people. Like detailed connector info, or start pulling down data from the FSM or Collision Repair Manuals…
Not sure I’d be able to fully cover the cost, and not sure I can directly justify the price. But I’ve been helping out on a number of random things like a friend trying to add seat heaters to his ‘22 Rav4 while still making them look factory (using the factory trim piece and factory switches). Having direct unfettered access would be handy

    Some questions:

    1. What's the annual sub cost?
    2. Is this something you do because you enjoy it?
    3. Are you ok dealing with some people feeling that if they "donate' they feel entitled to your time and assistance?

    1. $480/year. Or it’s $20 for a two day access or $90 for a month.
    2. Yes. I like to solve puzzles and generally help fellow people out in ways that I can draw on my strengths of logic and organization. Hence why I jumped in as treasurer for the fundraiser and built all the tracking and dashboarding. Also why I’ve got my fingers in a lot of “extracurricular” endeavors in my career industry (MEP construction)
    3. This is the tough one. I genuinely like helping out people that need help, don’t fully understand what they’re looking for, are wanting to learn and have a knack to pick things up, and are appreciative of the help. I hate dealing with asshats, mouth breathers, people with a sense of entitlement, people that want to be spoon-fed, or that won’t listen. I also get to things “on my time” which may be 48-96 hour turnaround.
so, yeah. That’s why I’m torn over it.
At the end of the day, the price is really inconsequential for a year’s worth of access, and I already provide a lot of my time and info to the forum because that’s who I am. Just thinking out loud it would be nice to have the raw cost offset a little.

We’ve got some people on the forum that are being extra dickish lately. Can’t read or understand how quotes work, then get butthurt when they get called out for missing the assignment. Guess that’s enough internet for me today.

So $40 a month. If you did the coffee thing the way one guy did for running tracking on tacomas on TW it might work. He set it to buy him a beer, so it was a $5 donation. It was also at the request of people who wanted to thank him for helping. So if you got 8 donations per month you'd break even. Do you think it's possible? Would you use the access for your own benefit/enjoyment, and thus be able to justify some of the cost yourself? As for dealing with the dregs, you could quite easily have your thread stickied with some approved rules/boundaries, and the staff have smacked people for being entitled ingrates before.

Starting to see how my travel plans for next year are shaping up… looks like DFW, AUS, at least two trips to DEN (one for snow, one to Larkspur), SLC, ATL, and a couple to PHX all before end of March

    Yeah
I wouldn’t approach any of it with the premise that I had to recoup my costs to keep doing it. For sure I’d use it for my own use - if for no other reason to satisfy curiosity. I mean, I’d have access to all the FSM, EWD, TSB, and CRM data for every Toyota, Lexus, and Scion after about 1990 (ish). That’s a lot of data to poke around in to satisfy curiosity or help out someone with a side project (or maybe someday use on one of my own). I’m looking at helping my daughter get a Taco once prices start to normalize. I wish I could move the whole family over to Toyotas (or that Toyota and Subaru shared the same subscription) so I could focus on one set of tools. But whatever…
    Mostly just thinking out loud.

Yeah, thanks for understanding I meant month. Fingers and brain not working together tonight.

Now, I don't know what any of those 3 letter acronyms are. Dumb it down so an autozone counter monkey would know what info you have for me. :D Just trying to understand what tools/info this sub would provide for you.

Holiday stress. We all have to act perfect for a bunch of family we don't like because it's the holidays, so internet strangers and the dog get kicked around and wonder WTF is going on.

    • FSM = Factory Service Manual (the 15,000 page book of how to perform all service and maintenance and troubleshooting)
    • EWD = Electrical Wiring Diagrams
    • TSB = Technical Service Bulletins (non-recalls but “fix this if a customer reports it as an issue”)
    • CRM = Collision Repair Manual (has details for body shops on dimensions, repair procedures, specs and requirements, etc.)
    • Lots of other data too…
And that’s for every model and year of the three brands from +/- 1990 (depends for some of them on when they started digitizing some of that data)
