Hey guys, im new here and am having a strange issue. My tail lights and other lights work perfectly, however I don't have e any brake lights. I checked fuses, the brakelight switch and made sure that there were no burned out bulbs. The only thing I can think of is to check the ground wire going to the switch, but any other tips or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Have you tested power at the switch? test the ground as well, check for power and ground at your brake lights. To confirm, all 3 brake lights don't illuminate when the brake pedal is pressed? the brake light switch has power/ground going to it, and when pressed the power/ground is continued past the switch? (I don't remember off the top of my head if its just controlling ground at the switch or not)

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/ultimate-tundra-wiring-diagrams-collection.81448/

thats the wiring diagrams thread, if you download the 08 diagram, and go to page 342/655 its got the diagram for the brake lights

there are two relays listed on this page, they tie into the A40(A), A41(B) connector at pin #7B (yellow wire) and exit at #11A (orange wire)(taillights) & #10A (light blue wire)(3rd brake light)

so, if you're getting power into the connector, you can ditch the relays as bad, however if you aren't getting any power into the connector, then I'd check the two relays. If you're getting power in/out of the connector then you need to check for power at the taillights, which if thats all good, then also check the ground at the taillights- you could have a short somewhere or potentially bad ground.

Wow! Thank you so much Joseph! That's exactly what I need, I'll give all of that a check and report back.

Im happy to be here, thanks!

Alright, I'm still struggling to pin down exactly what the issue is. Me and my brother were Doble checking the brake switch and I jostled the wires a bit and the brake lights illuminated for a brief second. So I think it's the wires going to the plug. Unfortunately I don't have a test light so I'm waiting on one to arrive. In the meantime, does anyone have any instructions on how to repair this connector if it is bad or should I just try to find a pig tail somewhere?

When jostling the pig tail it worked? You can pickup a new pigtail from any parts store like autozone, is the brake light switch new?

Yeah, so when we tried swaping the brake switch to test the old one I was able to push it like a jeopardy button almost. So when I was moving it with the button depressed the lights came on for a brief moment and then didn't illuminate again. So I'm wondering if the plug us damaged or if the actual wires have a short.

Once your test light comes in, test the outputs of the switch, that’ll give you your answer

Sorry about the late update. So I git her fixed, it turns out that the pins to the connector were bent. So I ordered a new pigtail and now I've got lights again. I appreciate the help!
