When I pick my kids up from day care they will often put their backpacks on the middle seat. When I start driving the truck detects weight on the middle seat and starts chiming because the it’s seatbelt isn’t latched. I already turned off the rear seat reminder, but that seems to be for something else. The only way to stop the chiming is to have one of my kids latch in the middle seat belt

Is there a way to disable the rear seatbelt alert?

The Carista OBD2 allows you to disable any seat belt chime

Oh good idea, I want to order one of those dongles to disable the fake engine noise anyways.

That one is easy, just disable the notification from the Toyota app

Anything under the seat pushing up from under the seat cushion? That would cause issues too.

My dealer turned off my rear seat belt warning. My dogs were setting it off. It took about 15 minutes and they didn't charge me anything.

That's an automatic reminder to check your back seat for kids. It isn't based off a sensor or anything. Purely a reminder because of all the sad news stories of people forgetting kids and pets in vehicles. Should be able to turn that off in the settings of the truck somewhere, or possibly in the toyota app. I turned it off on my Tacoma, but that was a week ago so I don't remember where I saw it exactly.

If you opened the back door to but a bag or get snow brush from back there when you start it, it will remind you solely based on the fact you opened the back door.

You can turn it off read the manual and check the App, I did but forgot exactly how I did it.

Thanks, I realized I got a new ice brush and have been storing it in the back seats this week. Hence the rear notifications from open/close (could use more logic like if there is weight on the rear seats but w/e), will check the manual on how to disable

I can't believe that carista obd2 adapter requires a $40/year subscription for customization. Can you plug it in, change stuff, and unplug it, or does it need to remain plugged in?

From my understanding, once you make the config changes you do not need tue subscription to maintain the changes.
