I just noticed today that my heated steering wheel heats up all the way around except the bottom middle section. Is that normal? Just weird that it doesn’t heat at all points,

I observed a review on line complaining about the steer wheel not getting hot.....mine gets very hot!! Nice compliment!!

Mine does, all though not as warm as the rest of the wheel, I suspect this has to do with that section of the wheel being larger in circumference than the rest of the wheel.

I will double check mine but I believe that my lower middle section does not heat up.

Bottom center section on mine heats up, but not as hot as the rest of the wheel.

I wish mine was adjustable, it goes from cold to sizzling hot instantly and is too much

After further review the bottom middle of the steering wheel heats up but it’s not as noticeable as the rest of the steering wheel.

it could be the small section where the heating element is wired or connected (start and end) like electric oven heating element. It won't get as hot.

Nice feature but mine only heats up where I put my hands on. I think maybe because I didn't :spending:
    :monocle:

I don't think I would buy a car without heated seats now! Used to think it was stupid but then age happened. :D
And now i am beginning to like heated steering wheel also.

Mine heat up all the way around but the heat seems to go from on to off every so often. It gets hot, then seems to turn off for a minute then heats back up. Also, it doesn't seem to heat the inside of the wheel where stitching is where my fingers rest so it's a long while before the rest of the wheels heated section eventually warms that area.

I noticed this as well. It definitely turns on and off occasionally.

there were a lot of complaints at first about the wheel not really getting that warm at all, have they fixed that or are you guys still getting that?

Mine is pretty mediocre. It turns off and on quite a bit as well. Definitely nowhere near as warm as other vehicles I have owned, but I am glad to have it. Wouldn't own another vehicle without a heated wheel.

It is not hot at all, just a little warm. And I noticed it will turn off after being on awhile.

I can see the new Toyota MSRP:

    $1800 Advanced heated steering wheel.

That seems more like a Ford or RAM option, Toyota will just tell the consumer to be happy they even get a heated steering wheel option.

The bottom section of my wheel is only noticeable on the back side. I only started noticing this a few weeks ago. Rest of the steering wheel heats up nicely, far better than my wife’s 2020 Highlander which only covered the left/right sides poorly. The accent pieces on the wheel obviously stay cold so that can sometimes affect the sensation of warmth if you’re touching them.

I opened up my lower console switch bank today to install my caliraised light bar switch.

I noticed that where the heated steering wheel switch would be, there is a wired harness plug in the switch blank where it is normally located.

I have a limited and was wondering if anyone happened to purchase the switch itself and tried to see if the steering wheel heated up.

Dumb question but which trims have the heated steering wheel? I have a loaded SR5 and even paid for an upgraded leather wheel but alas no heat

Same here, got a loaded Limited OR, no heated steering wheel, no 110v outlet, no wireless charging, etc. I’m most bummed about the lack of 110v as my wife often works while we drive somewhere and I hate cables for the inverter dangling from the dash. I’ll have to look into a 110v retrofit for the center console…

won’t derail the thread further but FYI do a search. There was a guy here who did this with oem parts and another with aftermarket inverter IIRC

I don't know when it becomes standard but the SR5 I was able to get has one. I know it has SR5 premium and convenience packages.

I may just order the switch and try. At $76 it seems like a gamble.

According to TRDjon, the tow mirrors may be prewired as the harness looks to be wired and plugged into dummy switches.
