I agree... But, I wouldn't think they'd produce a 'production' 9 sec car that wouldn't stay planted :notsure:

Will be interesting to see when some of the new features, like maybe the newer games, are for the Ryzen only folks (December 2021 builds and on)

We do a LOT of trucking.

What is getting left out is >> where are the 1MW chargers located?
are there going to be truck stops with these giant capacity chargers avail soon?

I assume this is the only way to charge the semi's.

if Tesla builds the chargers on individual site, how much does that cost the truck owner?

    ponderous.

and if there is a central charger, say in Houston...imagine the back up. I suspect these trucks will charge at end of daily route.

and how does this charging time affect e-logs?

Certainly huge infrastructure hurdles - goes for all EV's, not just the new big rigs.

All of it will have to be handled by the private sector. Great example is Pepsico on their first Tesla semi order. They installed charging stations on site for their trucks.

This will take a long time to trickle down to the mom & pop trucking shops!

    "installed on site"

I wonder how much that cost? or did Tesla enter into a lease/buyout program on the chargers? I imagine upcharging the electron cost to cover the install costs over a certain period of time. or maybe Pepsi bought them...who knows?

say each charger is $300k...given that the regular chargers are guesstimated to be ~$100k each....that's a huge cost to sweep under the green rug.

    We'll see. I encourage efficiency.

but the Semi appears to be an answer to a question nobody asked.

and - just so you know....canned beverages are pallet loaded to fit a full legal load onto a 53' trailer.
Bottled beer has to leave one pallet off to make max weight of a full load.

so - these Pepsi Semi's will see full loads every day. ~80k lbs ttl weight.

Not 100% sure on the financing situation for Pepsico's megawatt chargers (it wasn't cheap - I'd imagine your $300K guess is accurate), but either way, it was all private sector! I'm sure the math isn't pretty compared to running a traditional diesel truck.

They'll need chargers at every stop to make it feasible (empty or full loads). We're so far away from that happening. It's all a pipe dream.

    Ah yes, the Fusion thing.

    I saw some headlines.

Free energy is quite the economic challenge.

I would imagine, if this news is real, lots of powerful entities would kill it.

EV conversation last night during a nice dinner.

Both kids are back in the house for Christmas break. Good times.

Well, we got to talking about the MS and if/how we would replace it in a couple years.

The wife says she was not sure she wanted to give it up.

She said she never had a car that met nearly every need.

This is good insight – she didn’t even consider an EV when we had to get another car for her – The kids and I wanted the MS.

Now, after owning an EV, she doubts another car could meet the new demands she now puts on a car. She looked at the Lexus LX600 and said “ew, look at all those buttons on the dash”.

This says a lot about Tesla. It says things you don’t hear in the media. Tesla is as awesome and user friendly as the IPhone is. And can whoop a Porsche 911 Turbo S EVERY day.

Of course the kids were volunteering to accept it if Mom was to get another car!

    Life remains good.

now that I've been able to ruminate on this a bit....

    History has taught me:
if the legacy media is reporting on an energy related topic (fusion tech), then it is a high probability its a ruse to get funding for crappy tech.

nothing will happen & lots of insiders will get mondo rich from free tax dollars. mainly California politically connected parasites.

and we will still be using O&G to power our way.

    just keeping it real.
