I should have tested the lights prior to completing wiring to see if the lights would power up. I did this prior to my CaliRaisedLED ditch lights and they worked, but I'm not sure what step I did wrong in the process of trying to wire up my Squadron Sports to my Auxbeam.

So what I did was cut the 2 plugs from the relay, fuse, and switch leaving the plugs (Black and White) on its' own.

Twisted the whites to whites, and blacks to blacks to create a split for the Black and White wire that would eventually run to the Auxbeam. Crimped the twisted whites to the single white wire, and crimped the twisted blacks to the single black wire.

I figured white to whites and blacks to blacks would be correct, but is this the reason why there isn't any power running to the ditch lights?

    Educate me on this...

Did you by chance blow a fuse?

Honestly don’t think so. I’ll have to check the 30A mini fuse.

Black and white should just be positive and neutral right?

I'm no electricity-ologist but red is usually positive, black is negative, white is neutral.

Try flipping the plugs/connectors if possible? I thought my new led fog lights were broken but I plugged in the oem connectors upside down which the style lets you do.

My old ditch lights ran red/black too… except the Squadron Sports ran white/black…

If I were to split the black and white, how would I run a red for positive?

There are general conventions that say red is positive and black is negative in DC wiring, while black is hot (+) and white is neutral (-) in AC wiring. But truth be told, it really varies. The only hard/fast rule is that in AC wiring, only a ground can be bare and all hot wires in a box must be identified as hot if they enter the box with white insulation (i.e. with a red or black wrap of tape).

This is why no one should ever rely solely on color of wire when tapping or cutting factory wires. Always verify actual pin-out and function.

There’s a good chance you may just be wired backwards and a quick swap will fix it. Try that first, then look for blown fuse, then bad splices or bad connections. Eliminate one variable at a time. Try powering the light directly off the battery to confirm polarity. Etc.

Would it be ok to touch the black to positive and white to negative on my battery? Or… should I not try that?

Shouldn’t do any harm. Check the lights directly and see which way they light up. Then work your way out from there through your wiring harness to be sure all this connections are good. Finally, connect to the auxbeam. If one position doesn’t work, then check on a different switch/position.

Just found a video of what exactly I did.

    https://youtu.be/M3wRJe7ws3M

So this guy actually created a 3rd plug after the Y split. I actually did a Y split using heat shrink crimps and just ran the black white directly to the Auxbeam. What would the 3rd plug do in this situation?

I’ve had two sets of bajas do this same thing to me. Try reversing the wires, the polarity is probably wrong

So the plugs itself were already installed on the wiring harness. I know that when I installed the harness for the Squadron-R that the A B had to match both sides…

Let me check my fuse.... it seems like baja runs white as positive and black as negative...

So white is your positive and black is your ground. Here is a schematic to help you out. The teal is if you are using a spot or auxbeam type switch panel and the other color is for just to like a rocker type switch.

Holy cow! Haha, man that's extremely advanced for me. But I think I'm understanding it. So I think at this point, I may have blown a fuse by putting black to positive and white to negative when turning on the ditch lights. I'll keep you guys updated.

Your 55" universal harness is essentially a y-split to female delphi?

Yes, this allows you to essentially run two lights off a single female Delphi plug. I replied to your other thread if that helps.

So the harness you suggested comes in red/black... and the harness that comes with the lights is white/black. Is there a difference?

Did you run power to the relay? Connect the main red and black wires to your battery posts.

For that splitter, the red is going to be the positive lead and the black is your ground.

@pvn.beluga I hooked up a double relay harness to my Auxbeam this past weekend.

Run these to your battery posts
    Screenshot_20221212-191922_Brave.jpg

Then take the terminals that run to the harness switch and cut accessory and ground terminals off. Run the accessory wire to + and the black wire to - on the Auxbeam. You won't use red.

I completely cut out the relay and the switch wires because I assumed I’d be able to run black white directly to the Auxbeam switch panel.

That looks right from what I can see. Those wires are on the 30amp fuse. It should work what model aux beam you have?

Have you checked the continuity coming through the wiring harness right before the plug on the lights? If all is correct and the light has power but won't turn on you can have the lights sent in under warranty and we can cover the repairs if they are damaged. Here is my email if it comes to that point, brandonk@bajadesigns.com.

We may have blown the 30A fuse. Going to swap it out and see.
