I should move to NH so I can take advantage of the law that the insured can get OEM parts if asked regardless of the vehicle age. A friend of mine from NH told me that.

I don't live where I have to worry about this....but it seems like a simple solution would be to just stick a wireless morion alarm under your truck everytime you park it for the night.

Got a skid plate with cat protection from Desert Eagle Offroad on Facebook. I would get a different one if you need something rock-worthy, but this was good for my needs. Hopefully has enough coverage to keep the cats from getting nabbed.

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
You can also go to a muffler shop, take some rebar and have the weld the cats on, then weld rebar all over them to the body. Sure anything can be stolen (bring a trailer) yet this will make the average thief move onto an easier target, you know the ones who did Nothing to prepare. This cost me $60 for 4 autos. Luck all.

I have the desert eagle one also. Had to modify it due to lift but it seems to cover what it should. Also, there is a YT video out there on the interwebs somewhere. Guy had to bend part of driver's side angle piece due to it hitting his brake lines. I can't say weather or not this was true on my truck because I didn't look and it's not actually installed atm due to skid plate fab and being a touch lazy to put back on.

The guy that makes them is super cool and seems like the type that'll answer any questions you have, I've B.S'd with him a few times.

Desert Eagle makes one for first gens? All I see on his Facebook page is 2nd gen or newer. I can't find an actual website for them.

A friend had a cat stolen from his Tacoma yesterday. I'm in a more rural area and use an electric fence around the house to deter bears. I'm toying with building a 12V RV battery w/solar charger to make a grid of hanging hot wires that stand off from the vehicle metal. A loop around the cat would be insulated with hot wires hanging at 6 inch intervals. Let's see how this goes!

Yeah, I've had it since late summer. I just called him from Facebook page. Kinda how he likes to do business I guess...Sent me an invoice paid via PayPal iirc.
I think he actually put a FB post up finally. Originally he didn't want to advertise so he was doing just 50 or so at a time. I got on a list then it showed up a week or so after payment.

I knew someone else besides Skid Row was making them but I couldn't remember who it was. I know you haven't installed it, but have you done any test fitting? Does it seem like it provides adequate protection for the cats?

The electric controller sends a 4.5-5 KV pulse every one second. It's not something you want to encounter again. To deter a determined thief, I'd use an insulated steel cable anchored to the frame and to the insulated hot wire loop. A plus is that when you hear someone screaming from under the truck, there's opportunity to engage in some real fun.

Can't do it rn, been had a few. Plus everytime I look at it I wanna drive it. Don't need to show the world the fastest color tundra after a few...."anyone that's with me they'll be throwing numbers at"

(Remote) Airbag claymores. Probably from a minicooper or beetle or beetle or whatever.

depending on how effective the airbag alone is, could probably blast those biodegradeable airsoft bb's and ease cleanup.

Those honestly look like they offer a lot better protection than the Skid Row option. Is the metal thick enough to offer some off road protection too?

my 04 tundra had the cat cutoff while I was at Top Golf. Was able to get the muffler shop to weld on a new one and get me going again. The muffler shop told me the thieves don't mess with the after market cats as they don't have the same level of precious metals. NAPA sells a shield for around $200.

I like my aluminum raw set from GetCatSecurity, fine protection, not heavy, and probably won't stop rocks if someone were to offroad with it, but that's not what I do much of here.

But, pro tip, don't lose your stupid Torx security bits or you'll sit around looking at your stupid TRD skid plate that your stupid security bolts prevent you from installing until your stupid replacement Torx bit arrives while you feel stupid.
