I have the stock platinum wheels w/ black lugs and for the time being, used a ‘smoke’ coating on the centre caps. I have a set of TRD caps I’m going to install when I get around to it. Tires are Nokians in 275/65r20 and weigh in at ~56lbs, so heavier by almost 20lbs a corner

I’m not sure about the wheels you have but I have the stock 18” rims from the sr5 TRD off-road. I put those same center caps on mine but I needed to hammer down the front dust caps to make the TRD center caps fit. I made a post earlier in this thread. They’ll look great on those wheels.

Thanks, I’m leaning towards leaving the stock platinum wheels and go with black lugs and I’m still trying to figure out the center caps alternatives.

I’ll go with cooper AT4 s 275/60/20 which are 33” but 45 lbs so only 6-7 more than stock tires

there has to be another center cap that fits somewhere , black would be best

I assume you are probably right, as they didn’t fit my stock SR5 OR wheel either. The only fitment issue was the depth. The stock silver Toyota logo caps are convex and the TRD are concave. With minor adjustments to the dust caps/covers, they fit perfect and the dust covers are still completely functional. I’m only speculating from my experience with my rims, can’t say for certain about the platinum wheels.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll scope out your post and follow suit if need be, I just assumed they’d fit. Might have to kick the wife’s car out the garage and give it a whirl later today

Nice, those Coopers are a decent tire. I’ll post back here whether the TRD caps fit platinum wheels, dust cap flattened or not

looking for some inputs from folks on why some pick either

    oem size : 265/60R20

    alt 1 : 275/60r20 vs 275/55r20

    or

    alt 2 : 285/55r20

i was thinking of going toyo open country at3 285/55r20 since its a more common size than the oem size and its not that far slower from the actual speedo ( 74.6 at 75mph and 29.8 at 30mph).

    but if i want a duratrac i can only go 275/55r20 (73.6 @ 75 and 29.4 @ 30)

    comments on your preference?

edit: i prefer actual slower speed than what is on the digital speedo

one thing is for the 275/60/20 is that its a nice 33" but you can get P rated that are cheaper and most importantly they weight like 45 lbs instead of the E rated tires that weight way way more, ride and MPG will be maintained but still looks nice with a 33" tire

Sounds good. I'm going this route as well. Cooper AT3 4S tires in 275/60R20. I've had this tire before in pizza-cutter size for my 4Runner and they performed great in hwy and snowy conditions.

I also chatted with tirerack techsupport regaring my question on towing a 6K# cargo trailer. He said this P-rated tire with maxload of 2650 should be good for my needs if I have proper weight in hte cab+bed and on the tongue. What do you think?

the wife looked at the cooper at3 4s but it was a pass. she wanted a more aggressive looking tread design like the duratrac or toyo tires had. otherwise i would have gone the cooper route.

I dont think those come in P rated and 33" do they? if so, I would bet those are going to be lot heavier.

all depends on what you want to accomplish, Im going for ride quality and no MPG loss this time around

right now I have Load E AT3 XLT and they are great but heavy and stiff which was fine, but Im changing my set-up when I get a new rig

Hey all quick question, those that are driving on Nitto Recon or Ridge Grapplers have any of you experienced any balance issues with the tires?

    Thanks

Need some advice for tire purchase. Will have Icon 3" lift installed and using the OEM 20" TRD wheels +50

    Nitto Recon 35 x 11.50 R20 (34.6 diameter, 124R speed, 61lbs)

    or

    Nitto Recon LT 295 / 65 / 20 (true 35.1" diameter, 129 speed rating, 65lbs)

Any rubbing issues with either on stockies? Prices are comparable. LT has higher speed rating, similar contruction as far as plies, same warranty. Any pros that lean toward one size or the other?

Here they are on a '22 and thought they looked pretty decent. Trying to stay away from the beadlock fastener look for some reason.

what’s your choice for a 95% daily driver tire, but I do hit the mountain roads covered in snow often to go snowboarding in Tahoe.

3 weeks in a row snow covered mountain passes on the stocks and it’s time for an upgrade.

I’ve had the terra grapplers before on my tacomas and they always performed well.

    falkens are a bit heavier…

    what ya guys think?

I have Terragrapplers now purely for the weight savings cause it was the only P rated 295/70r18 around. But they are terrible in the wet. My Wildpeaks AT3W on my last truck I think are the best tires I have owned. I wish they made them in more sizes P rated I would not think twice about getting them again.
