Interesting for sure. So that’s on a tvs2300. Being that the 2650 is 4% more efficient and requires 18% less input power than the 2300, I would probably figure to do the same job at the same boost and power level the 2650 would consume more like 45-65hp instead of 60-80 I would infer, but would also probably produce more power on top of the gains from the parasitic loss reduction. Videos I’ve seen comparing the 2300 to the 2650 made an extra 100 horsepower on 1000ish hp motors at the same boost.

Not tracking on where are you getting 4% efficient and 18% less power?

Banks had a different approach to get this number by looking at how much fuel it took.

I would imagine to achieve the same final HP # or even the same boost the smaller blower will work harder to get there. Reading the comments the HP needed is not linear across the whole curve and there are several other factors to consider.

It’s directly from eatons website where they show the benefits of the 2650 over the 2300, link below. Agreed it’s likely not linear, assuming the affinity laws of fluid dynamics apply to superchargers as well as any other fluid mover, power varies as the cube of the flow. For example a 75mm pulley moves 6% more air per engine rev than the 80mm pulley. If a 75mm pulley consumes 60hp for example to run at 5,459cc/engine rev, then an 80mm would consume 49.8hp at 5,133cc/engine rev of horsepower for example, 60x.94x.94x.94 = 49.8hp. Running an 80mm pulley would result in a 17% reduction in required drive power for a 6% reduction in flow. Hence the diminishing returns as you raise the boost.

Not clear what the 4% efficiency number is talking to but my guess would be adiabatic efficiency. They are saying 25% more flow at the given blower RPM. Not clear what the 18% less input is referring to either, if it is per revolution that would be significant.

Edit: The spec's tabs tell all. At max RPM the larger blower requires 18% less input.

Notice it’s a 25% increase in airflow for only being 15% larger which speaks even greater to the improved efficiency.

Yeah that is crazy good 2844 kg/hr vs 3377 max flow.

Anyone have any interesting updates on their upgrades? Slow day at work…give me something to ponder, or do your best to make me spend money.

Nothing new to report here. Heading down to vegas tomorrow to meet with the old man and do the Mojave trail. Whipple update it should ship end of the month and he should be installing next month I think.

The fun part is going to be trying to return the ProSpeed injectors. If the Five-o injectors are straight plug n play, without the additional harness the Prospeeds need, then I'm keeping the Five-O

I looked everywhere and ProSpeed does not list any sort of return policy on their site. I'll reach out to them about it soon. Hopefully I won't have to do a chargeback on my CC, but I believe there's good grounds to do so since ProSpeed, A) Doesn't mention the additional harness needed to connect those injectors B) Doesn't list any sort of return policy on their site. the CC would easily approve it.

Did you have to specifically ask for a matched set when you purchased? These do look preferable to the Prospeed ones, more OEM plug and play style.

I didn't, but I also didn't even think about it....Hopefully they mean that you can purchase a single injector, and if you purchase multiple they'll be matched :fingerscrossed:

Yeah, you would think it should go without saying. The fact that they put that little blurb in there makes me wonder though.

Will be returning the ProSpeed injectors. Five-O are plug n play, no wire adapters, and come with a more thorough data sheet

Edit: Emailed prospeed on return process. Looks like I ordered on Nov 9th, so hopefully they don't do "oh 30 day return period" or something.

I have a few hundred miles on the 715cc Prospeed injectors without issue. I've very happy that I'm now in the mid 10s for AFR at WOT. Also updated the tune a bit more and truck is running great. Also have maybe 2000 miles with the 2.0 pulley and no issues. I need to bring the laptop down the hill and see if I can tweak the tune so WOT is happy at 2500ft elevation. I also need to talk to my neighbor and get the tundra on the dyno. Oh I also towed my utv down to mesquite which is like 1600ft elevation and ran the 2.0 pulley and if I put the truck in S5 then the engine made enough power that it didn't ever need to get into boost, so Im stoked to know I can run the 2.0 pulley at low elevation and be able to stay out of boost, so for day trips there's no need to swap the 2.3" pulley on.

I also have the Prospeed intake laying around, need to install that but I've been busy insulating my shop and haven't hit the MAF limit yet so that's been waiting.

Prospeed does have a return policy but said that the page must've not gotten added when they updated their site. 15% restocking fee, basically $100 + shipping to return.

Your neighbor has a dyno? It’s funny, I recently discovered my neighbor has a hub dyno. Been meaning to better establish that relationship… they’re always doing cool stuff over there.

The shop he works at has a dyno. I've only had the Hilux on it so far, though I recently made them some parts so they owe me I think :D

Did you do the SABM for the PS airbox? Curious to see what temps you get after you get it running for a few weeks.

I didn't do the mod. Currently having issues with fuel as it's all over the place.. hoping the tuner can get it squared away tomorrow. May need to put the stock injectors and air box back in then go from there.

Question for those with Maggies, any one notice squeaky belt during cold start?

it's been really cold last few days, and when I do remote start to warm up the truck, it sounds like the belt or tensioner is squeaky, it goes away after 30seconds to a minute, I don't notice any belt slip when driving but the noise annoys me.
