Weboost antenna mount ideas

Good morning,

I’m looking for ideas to mount a Weboost antenna on my Prinsu.

I’m thinking of getting a

$45 RS-660U Comet Adjustable Pipe/Roof Rack Mount Max Opening 2.5" x 2"

RS-660U Comet Adjustable Pipe/Roof Rack mount, but I’m curious to how others have mounted theirs. It would be good to be able to fold it down so I can park in the garage.

I have the same one and plan on mounting it on my Leitner Bed Rack. Just haven’t had the time to mount it

 

Had pops snap some pics of his weboost mount. Used a couple mounts then directly to the GFC.

 

Is that a new antenna or something?

 

Yep thats correct. Weboost single booster antenna for remote locations.

 

I went with a RAM mount and it works great. Poor pic but this is what it is like folded down - let me know if you want more.

 

I’m a fan of the RAM because it’s super easy to adjust, strong and I can pick any angle. My interior antenna is on the top of the windshield pointing down so I sometimes get reduced performance with the antenna pointing straight up.

Where did you get that threaded adaptor? Amazon? I've been looking for a solution like this for the weboost on my travel trailer.

@mountainpete @pdiddy @tweetlessfeags how did you route your antenna cable into the can and where is your located. My antenna cable seems pretty short. Not sure I’ll make it to the center console like I’m hoping. TIA!

 

I'm using a small magnetic antenna for the truck and the big torch lookin one on the camper. Mounted mine just above the B-pilar on the divers side. Then mounted the inside antenna on the lower left side of the console. In ad to add a 12v socket inside the console for the power source. Just tapped into the USB power for that one. Ill load pictures shortly.

 

I have the Weboost unit installed under the passenger seat. The antenna goes through the floor drain plug, along the frame (zip tied) and then up the front of the box and canopy. It’s a little ghetto, but it’s held in place as it goes up the canopy with Gorilla tape as I did not want to drill into the canopy. It used most of the stock cable.

I ran the interior antenna from the booster under the passenger seat up the passenger A-pillar, along the windshield and attached it to the glass on the drivers side of the mirror.

After using the unit for some time, I would not place the interior antenna on the windshield again (although cosmetically it’s a great install point). At times I get some attenuation between the two antennas, especially if the exterior antenna is pointing straight up. I can tell when that is happening because the performance degrades and I get flashing on the Weboost when I power it on.

Drilled a hole in the back of the cab, silicone and a rubber grommet. Ran the cable along the door jamb(pulled up the small plastic piece at the edge of the door). Then mounted the weboost module under the driver seat on the carpet. I had way more cable from the booster to the switch than the antenna to the booster.

I'll try to get some other pictures later.

 

Mine is also wired to under the passenger seat. Don't think my cable would have gone from the rear tail lig

 

Thank you all for your ideas. I’m doing to try to run the antenna wire and make it to the passenger seat going through the grommet under the rear passenger seat floor board. Probably just plug it into the center console and put the internal antenna on a dash mount

 

I went with a RAM Mount too for my Weboost antenna. I have it connected to my bed rails on the drivers side since I do not have a bed rack or camper. Do you use your Weboost while driving? If so, how do you keep the antenna up? The RAM Mount doesn't stay up due to wind. I have it leaning against my Decked Toolbox. I'm thinking of talking to a fabrication shop to see if they can build a Mount that folds down when I'm not using it.

 

Yes, I use the antenna up while driving. I have had no issues with it staying upright. You need to crank the Ram mounts pretty hard until they settle in.

 

I must be weak. I thought I had it cranked down pretty hard. LOL. I'll try again and see if I can get it tighter. I just thought that ball near the base made it slippery and it would never stay upright while driving. When I initially try it, the antenna fell down eventually. Had to pull over and bungee it so it would stay up while leaning on the Toolbox

 

Are you using the full antenna or did you choose to use the shorter arm? There's different options when putting it together. I think i used the longer arm.

 

Trying to figure out how to get my WeBoost Overland properly mounted to my truck... I had a Prinsu on my Taco so it was easy and while ghetto, I just had it mounted to a roof rack bar and ran the cable through the door trim. It wasn't super clean, but IT WORKED very well. Now I've got this Tundra with the pano sunroof - which I won't be covering up with a rack, and don't want to create a mess of wires... Seems the best option is for me to mount to my bed rack, work hard to conceal the cable, run under the truck and up through the drivers seat drain plug? Any other solutions folks have found that are clean but unobtrusive?

I'd rather have the power run to the battery but all I have for the WeBoost is the cigarette lighter power adapter. Is there layperson's solution to avoid having more wires running all over?

 

@Hammertimerrrr if you have ditch lights , you could make a bracket to mount it to one of those. Could run the wire into the engine bay , and then internally from there.
