Pearl Harbor

My Uncle Larry, my Mom's brother, was field promoted to Lt at Bastogne during the Bulge. Enlisted at 15. Lied about his age. My Mom went to his funeral. I still have newspaper clippings she brought back. Gen Bill Abrams was in attendance. My Uncle Larry's oldest son Jim was a West Pointer. Fucked up a bunch of Iraqis during Desert Storm. Chopper unit commander. Crazy son of a bitch. Jim's younger sister, my cousin Donna, retired as a Colonel. Her last go round after retirement was a top level civilian with the JROTC. Top level. My Mom's side were Army. My Dad's side.....Marines. Funny how things work out.....

 

Wow what a life to have lived! What ever became of the German boy?

 

I believe he left the home around age 16, right after his sophomore year of high school, and was never heard from again. A couple of my uncle’s unsuccessfully tried to look him up years ago. There were a bunch of kids in the house (mom was one of seven), so he might have gotten squeezed out. Don’t really know the full story on that one and not sure if I want ask my uncles at our family Christmas party. Might take 3-4 hours to get an answer for you hahah

 

I might add I had a very good convo with my Mom on the 1st. She turned 97. Still sharp as heck.
