I’ve used B&W for years with no issues. Although I only use with a small 8’ aluminum trailer and motorcycle.

After extensive research and finding a dealer nearby in CT, I’ve been using a Bulletproof 6” adjustable drop for about a year. Was on my Tacoma and now using it on the Tundra. My 14’ V-nose enclosed trailer sites pretty low and I try to keep it close to level. Really happy with it.. although I’ve scraped it a few times going up steep drives or dips in streets, I guess that’s mostly my fault, but otherwise it’s a nice unit.

 

so does it adjust from 1" to 5" ?

You can actually flip the whole receiver over and get the full scale of measurements. So really a 5” adjustment is 10” if it can clear the bumper. It’s rare you’d need to go up that high, just saying… My bulletproof allows this anyway. Something to consider with some of these adjustable hitches.

 

Also have the tri ball B&W with a 7” drop, due to a 2”+ rear lift. American made so they say too. Has the stow and go/anti theft mechanism which works well. Obviously you don’t want too much drop otherwise will hit the ground while towing. 5” drop is ideal for a stock rear height and can then accommodate all trailer heights to level them, takes a bit of experimentation to figure out which setting to level each trailer.

I use this guy with my stock height SR5 TRD Offroad. [Edit - found it for $159 at Tractor Supply vs $179 at Northern Tool!] Comes with easily-accessible locking hitch pins so you don't have to worry about it walkin' off with some stranger. Bonus points for being all aluminum so it's incredibly light and easy to remove/install, 12k lbs towing capacity and all 3 possible ball sizes included. Fits easily in one of my under-seat storage bins in my CrewMax. I really like it, actually, I was surprised.

Think the only thing I'd change about it is to swap the locking pins out for

Because I can adjust the height with the trailer still attached. I need it at its highest setting to bring my boat down my driveway which is a hill or the trailer tongue will scratch. Bring it down to tow.

 

I have the same one, had it for probably about 4 years now. Absolutely love this hitch. However, it was WAY cheaper when I bought it, sub $200. My father has the same Curt hitch but in the 2.5" shank version, as well as a FastWay brand adjustable hitch that is a larger 10" drop. Both are nice units.

I really don't think you can go wrong with any brand, just choose a price range and one with enough drop and you'll be fine.

 

100% agree with you @Hugemoose no reason to be loyal to any brand.. go with the best one that fits your needs and budget.
