    Greetings all

I got my 22 Tundra back in January and unfortunately I got rid of it. It was the most comfortable of all Toyotas I have owned and was a dream to drive on the highway. Loved the big screen. Roomy and bright interior. Side tailgate release. Power once the turbo kicked in. That's where the love ends.

I have owned 11 Toyota vehicles in the last 30 years and by far the tundra has been the absolute worst.

It was in the shop more in the first 6 months for warranty work then all my other Toyotas combined! I had enough.

Fit and finish and quality is sub par. Good/tailgate gaps. Rattles. Squeaks. Door seals. Window seals. Leaking sunroof. Turbo lag. Loss of power. Worsening transmission noise. Fuel gauge issue. Cheap plastic interior parts breaking. The list goes on.

I am not hard on my vehicles and my buddies like to raz me as I tend to keep them in pristine shape. Babied. I always have a few buddies in line to buy my old vehicles when I get a new one. The new Tundra totally disappointed me. Hope my issues were simply related to first year gremlins / pandemic fall out but my confidence is certainly not in the new generation build platform at this time. If I absolutely needed a full size truck I hate to say it but Toyota would be last on my list unless I went to a 21 or older and dealt with the high fuel consumption.

Still want a Tundra? Wait until at least '24 unless you lease and just get rid of them every few years.

I’ve been wondering if I should hold on the GR Corolla for similar reasons. I’ll be keeping my 2020 Tundra as long as possible that’s for sure

My 22 has been totally awesome and is every bit put together as well as any Toyota I have owned over last 40 years. My SR5 CM4x4 Tundra has been pretty much exact opposite of OP experience except for fuel gauge is a little funky once in awhile. I did have one warranty issue with leaking AC condenser but Toyota gave me a Taco to drive while they waited on replacement part, once they got part the Tundra was fixed in one day.
I love the Tacoma as well as Tundra but I like the Tundra towing capability. Another thing about Tacoma is the mileage isn’t much better than a Tundra if at all. You can’t beet Toyota quality and IMO the Tundra is an awesome truck.

That sucks that you had a bad run with it. Honestly, I can't say I wouldn't do the same in your shoes.

Owning a Tundra isn't a requirement for the community, though. Don't bail just because you drive something different! That said, let's see that Tacoma! What year/trim did you go with?

My 23 has been off to a fantastic start. I hope the gremlins were worked out. I am experiencing none of the common issues some of the 22 owners reported. I definitely checked fit and finish and took a long test drive before buying. Thanks for the heads up on what to look for.

Aside from door rattles I’m happy with my ‘22 and I’ll be keeping it, sorry to hear you’ve had so much trouble with yours that would be frustrating, good luck finding anything new that doesn’t have quality issues though

Thanks! Ended up with a TRD Pro 6MT. Absolutely love it. Didn't need the towing or the extra cab room with the tundra. Absolutely love driving the Taco! I gotta get some pics up.

Good to hear! I do find Tundra a little big for what I need. But, it has just worked out way it has for me.

Can you tell us more about your transmission noise issue please? Since your truck has 20k miles on it, probably more than most of us yet...

It started with a noticeable "clunk" when putting truck in gear on an incline. Then after a couple thousand miles it started doing it when on flat ground as well. Then a couple thousand more a noticeable "clunk" is heard when the truck is started. Flat ground or incline.

    Got it, thank you.

I did hear about the random clunk when starting the truck from many forum members, mine did it it once or twice as well. We'll let you know how it goes in the long run :)
