Ok... so, let's play devil's advocate here and say that it has nothing to do w/the quality or difference of the food/chocolate, etc... but truly just comes down to the experience!

If I took any mass produced piece of chocolate (except Whitman's those things freakin suck); but seriously like Hershey products, etc... cut you a single-bite piece (in a way that would hide its identity), placed it alongside 3 or 4 other samples of similarly mass produced chocolate, told you what to expect in terms of flavor profiles, smoothness, etc. from each one, and paired each chocolate w/a wine that compliments it, told you how to properly sample the product, and charged you 5-10 times what it would normally cost...

You'd embrace the "experience"; you'd take your time to enjoy and savor each sample while actively seeking out the flavor profiles that I've already told you was going to be there; and even if you were not able to discern certain flavors, textures, etc. your brain would guide you that direction through the power of suggestion and expectation and ultimately you'd have a completely different and more satisfying and enjoyable experience. You'd think that you are eating some exotic, hand-made by a master chocolatier, creation.

In other words, we as humans are not in search of a better piece of chocolate, wine or tea...and quite frankly, I'm not sure we'd actually know the difference. We are searching for someone to help us slow down and enjoy the finer nuances of life. We are searching for someone to take time w/us to help us learn how to awaken our senses and to guide us through the process of slowing down when we consume. We are searching for someone to show us how to need less and enjoy more :rasta:

You, sir, have just grasped how to break into the high end food experience business. There are many places that do exactly as you described.

    Now, to counter that…
Spend some time slowed down and paying attention to the flavors. Learn to isolate and experience the different flavors and nuances (which absolutely requires slowing down), as well as the combinations. Then go do the tasting you mentioned “blind” - no hints or suggestions or “placebo” data. You absolutely will tell the difference, and it will be stark. That isn’t to say you won’t prefer the cheap stuff or the expensive stuff. It does say you’ll make a more informed decision about what you like.

I was a certified beer judge for years. It takes training and time spent sampling specific isolated faults to be able to identify them both alone and in combination with other compounds. When tasting/judging specific styles, knowing what should/should not be part of that beer’s profile and isolating it with your senses is the difference between award winning and average on the score sheet. There were many styles of beer that I did not personally prefer, but I could objectively taste and score them from the criteria assigned to them…and I could appreciate all of them for what they were meant to be.

Make the same meal twice, only in one batch use no spices - not even salt or pepper. You don’t even need to close your eyes to taste the difference.

    Fuk’n deep…I like it.

Red wine and coke. 50/50 mix. Legit crazy mix that your brain won’t let you enjoy until the 3rd sip.

Lol. At that ratio powder coke would be a very expensive drink.

So, I'm actually finishing off a bottle of 10 year Tawny right now.... Anyhow, I'm guessing that a component of your concoction would include the sugar from a non-diet coke, correct???

I'm not a soda drinker (at all), but the wife does Coke Zero. I'm just figuring that wouldn't work for what you're talking about though, right??

Although I agree with you it's not an automatic, I believe to the letter of the law it is, because the blade comes out at the press of a button whereas Kershaws are assisted opening because you are pulling on the flipper and the spring just makes it easier.

Never had it, but I'd give it a shot. Worst case, I don't like it. Best case, it's amazing.

That may work on some people who don't have a sensitive palette, but I know some people who would be able to tell immediately. They'd also not take kindly to being scammed.

"pics aren't amazing" :duh: Dude, those are great! I love the wave headed toward the tower (lighthouse?), the wave breaking on the orange marker (the sky especially), and the wind/snow tearing down the beach (it looks kind of surreal with the sand pattern and snow).

Also, the mask, very Bane and very cool. Does it keep out dust? I am looking for something like that for the SxS trips because I always follow my buddy so he doesn't have to eat my dust. (He's on a quad and my SxS kicks up about 10 times more dust.)

Thank you! Umm, it's definitely made for winter so I'm not sure I'd use it unless it's cold out. That being said I do believe it would help with dust

My biggest complaint is the quoting of posts and not actually typing anything (not even inside the quotes as some folks tend to do).

Seems like he's still figuring out the quote function. Not sure there's a 50 post goal here. Maybe just some technical difficulties.
