    Hey Everyone,

I just picked up a 2017 Platinum Crewmax with JBL System and i noticed that phone calls in the truck sound like the person is talking through a tin can. My 2013 Crewmax had WAY better quality with phone calls. Wanted to see if anyone believes if it may be possible that one of my dash speakers could be blown? If I was to replace those speakers with better quality 3.5" speakers would this most likely fix my issue?

So I have been doing my research more and more on this speaker situation, can a audio god hopefully give me a yay or nay on this assumption. I have read alot that many people disconnect the center speak on our trucks (due to them being dual coil) and notice a improvement in sound quality. I also heard if you replace the left and right front dash speaker with 3.5 coax speakers this would be another great improvement in call and music sound quality. So what is everyone's thoughts on these two changes do you think this will help my issue and is it worth doing. Not trying to replace the whole speaker system just looking to get the system to a enjoyable level.

So I removed the center speaker definitely helps my music playing but phone calls it was very little help.

I ended up not running a center dash speaker which i believe alot of people have done. Replaced both side dash speakers with Kickers and I actually put microfiber towels over them to eliminate the very very high pitch sounds.

I dont believe anything will truly be a 100% fix but it made it better.

This is an issue in my 2015 Tundra I got this year in March. Coming from a 2020 Audi Q7 that had amazing audio for music and for talking on the phone, the sound of the Tundra threw me off. I started searching for an after market speaker that was under the dash like we had to install with the early mobile phones in the 1990s! I finally realized the sh$tty sound was coming from the left door speaker. That speaker sounds fine when playing music, so it is like they added a "make this sound really crappy" filter on it when the mobile phone sound comes up. Amazing.

Have not figured out a solution, so thanks for letting me vent! :annoyed:
