I just realized this dude had "TRD" etched onto the Icon billet UCAs. He really does have a fat wallet. hahaha

That’s also waaaaay more than the 1.125” of exposed threads that icon says to not go past.

I guess I should rephrase that because I don’t know everything.
Is the amount of exposed threads acceptable bc it’s a Pro? Or is that 1.125” number in icons instructions not accurate or something?

I paid $2518 shipped from Sparks for the kit, dropped off my truck w/the parts at the dealership on Friday morning. I’m picking her up on Tuesday or Wednesday, I’m away on a trip so it worked well. I negotiated keeping my foglights and for the TRD skidplate to be kept through not installing sway bar spacers.

I did my best to get the install price lower but the dealership was firm at a $2100 cap, however will charge me less if it doesn’t take that long. It’s their first install and they’re worried it may take them much longer. I will have the one year warranty with this install.

I’m very much hoping that upon return the install will have gone smoothly, that the foglights are intact (I was very clear that I did not authorize their removal) and that the TRD skidplate fits. I’ll share the pics I asked the tech to take, along with many before and after pics.

Picked up the Tundra! Fog lights are intact. TRD skidplate is on. Total cost came out to $1692.26 out the door including alignment, over 500 under estimate. It’s an understatement to say that I’m excited and so pleased. I really like the stance and leveling seems perfect. Initial driving impressions are outstanding. Totally different and vastly superior feel and handling. I retained all OEM TRD OR parts, if anyone is looking for something LMK. Pics incoming. Dealership is Rydell Toyota Grand Forks ND, near the Minnesota border and an hour to the Canadian border. I highly recommend this dealership they did a fantastic job and accommodated all of my requests and then some. The service manager Connor and Master Tech David were great to work with. Highly recommended! I feel that the TRD lift kit is an incredible dealer installed package with warranty. So much more than just a lift

Looks awesome! Congrats! Mine is supposed to be started Wednesday, but might be delayed as apparently the kit is on a small back order. Definitely going to use your notes on fog lights and skid plate.

Thanks Maharisc! You must have been one of the very first to get it installed. I hope to hear more re your experience and also your observations these past months!

r2theD2 good luck on your upcoming install! Keep us posted re the progress, glad that my notes can help: be sure not to lose your foglights and to keep the skid plate!

    Thanks for the report.

So the notes at the bottom of the invoice (and highlighted in yellow)…”were those your requests placed in writing
    ?”

I guess I need to do something like
That to ensure they don’t install as is and then tell you that your sway bar needs to sit outside or worse yet ‘not compatible’

My dealer here is charging $2200 + tax so still shopping around as I have some other work I want done concurrently if cheap enough.

Thanks Bigjuice, without this forum I would never have had the confidence to move forward with the process. You’re right, those notes highlighted in yellow were my requests in writing. I had corresponded with Connor in advance via email and in person first. When I dropped off the Tundra and the kit, I printed out the entire install document with my instructions added and part 5 (foglight delete) crossed out. I was clear that I had purchased the foglights with the limited trim and limited premium package and that I did not authorize or agree to have them removed.

Same for the TRD skidplate: Toyota shows many images online of the TRD lift with skidplate intact (at SEMA last year for example). It’s nuts that the kit install (if followed exactly) makes it impossible to keep the TRD skidplate (hence my instructions to not install the sway bar spacers/reusing factory end links). Connor was awesome making sure that those two requests were honored. I understand why the dealership requested a max cap of $2100 to protect themselves if it went way over. I was impressed that they only charged me for the time spent. I’d suggest having a talk with your dealer, and negotiating the $2200 as a maximum cap only if they go over: and asking to only be billed for the actual time spent.

@bigjuice aren’t you in North Seattle too? Seem to remember getting my truck about the same time as you…is the quote from Rodland? Same as my quote.

I was an early adopter on that and a lot of things, may not be the first, but I'm guessing close to it.
Truck build was 12/11/21 - picked up 01/07/22, this forum had been beneficial over the past year.
Your truck looks good and appreciate all the pics you provided.

For those thinking about the lift kit, certain vendors such as Sparks are selling all of their parts with free shipping through this weekend for their Black Friday sale. Code is blk2022. I ordered a bed cover to go over my bed liner for added protection. Not lightweight, normally that requires a shipping charge. For a much (much) heavier shipment like the lift kit that could mean nice savings

Yup…I’m in Bothell and that quote is from Rodland.

They want to remove my fog lights though (couldn’t seem to talk them out of it)

They told me I can just hook it right back after I left but they won’t let the truck leave with them hooked up so checking into Michaels in Bellevue or Toyota of Lake City to see if their prices for install are comparable and I can keep my fog lights.

I also have the TRD plates so need to let them know what to do (or not to do)so everything works together which makes this info by @Taikowaza is very helpful.

@bigjuice thats right, thought it might be Rodland. I got quoted $2200 from them, scheduled for Wednesday, but might need to push it out as I’m not sure Foothills Toyota received the kit (got it there for $2525) and skid plate ($417). Going to check install price from them Monday as back up. Will share with you and would be cool if you share on Michaels. Lake City quoted me $6500 per my note earlier in the thread.

I may call the dealer in Bremerton as well.

I just pulled the trigger on the kit this morning from Sparks. With the shipping discount it worked out pretty well. And no sales tax helps a lot too. Once I get a shipping estimate I’ll schedule with the dealership. Hopefully they hold true to the $900 - $1,100 install they quoted me.

What tires and size is everyone going with? I am thinking the Nitto Ridge Grapplers, but have loved Duratracs in the past. I am going to stick with 35s as I don’t want to have to do anything to fit 37s.

Good stuff - you are getting a really good price on install….I ordered 35 Nitto Ridge Grapplers - like the way they look from first time I saw that lift kit on the SEMA truck they shared out.

Hopefully they don’t come back with way more time and charge me a ton more. :) But I have it writing with the part number so we’ll see. I am debating between the Nitto Ridge Grapplers or the Yokohama Geolander M/T G003 both in 35x12.5R20. I’m just not sure I want a mud terrain. I don’t want too much tire noise.

Congrats BBJames!! Awesome price for the kit and great quote on your install! I went with BFG KO2 285/65R20 on my tires. There’s a chart on the lift kit install that describes which tire sizes can still use the safetysense, you should take a look (below)

@bigjuice Foothills was about the same at Rodland. $100 more ($2300)

also, I had to push my install back a week - the kits are on back order via Toyota…though it sounds like it is a very short/small back order. Guess it’s getting popular!
