Talk to your local shell supplier, they can likely point you in the right direction. What you described (over cab) will be required to be a custom fab job. Prepare to pay a good size deposit up front for a unique design.

I feel like the aftermarket tail light options for tundra suck. They’re all too curvy and busy looking. Nothing really fits the character and looks of the tundra but in an all led form.

    edit- these ain’t bad..

When they test vehicles, they only do so with a "driver".

I don’t know about your trucks, but in my truck, the dummy always sits in the driver’s seat.

And I have the left handle anyway. :p

Nice. I'd like to have that handle too, may have to buy the kit and do an install.

If you look at the new 2022 see the grab handle is back.

So either the dummy's stopped hitting their heads during the 2022 test crash, or maybe Toyota beancounter had removed it from 2014 to 2021 just to save $....if so, don't be surprised if it vanishes again.

Honestly the amount of accessories for the tundra compared to it’s market share size is really pretty impressive.

That being said the selection of fender flares sucks.

They never hit their heads on the driver’s side. It was the passenger side, which retained the grab handle (because there’s no steering wheel to grab). The lower safety rating on the front driver’s side offset impact is due to higher risk of leg injury because of how far the cab crumples into the driver’s footwell (it was like 15” or something crazy). Went waaaaay deep down the rabbit hole on this a while back trying to figure out if it was safety or cost cutting that led them to delete it. I am firmly in the cost-cutting measure/recoup some $$ from the mid-gen facelift camp.

And sorry for the derail :hattip:

Oh wow that is some good info! I'm glad they left somewhat of a mount behind the trim so one can actually add the grab bar back should they want to. (Wonder if that can also be used for cell phone mount) Thanks!

I'm thinking he meant around the edges of the window that glides along the rubber stripping?
No idea how it would speed up the rate of the window going up and down though

The slides inside the door, there are rails that mechanisms slide on inside the door. Sort of like a scissor lift.

I got another one. Toyota makes an oem bedstep (not AMP) for the rear of the truck/tailgate. I would like a set for the bed sides for my long bed. To access the front of the truck from the side.. ya know for the diamondback cover and whatnot. Only AMP makes them for the sides I guess. Yes I know running boards exist but I have the 8’ bed and have limited options the wheel to wheel boards. Something stow away is cooler to me. May have to settle for AMP..

Guess you can't stand on the tire? I usually take one step up the tube step with my left, then sling the right side up onto the tire. But I also have 3" DIY bed rails to grab onto and reach over.

You also have a crewmax where the rear tire is at the back of the cab. This is my dilemma..

I guess we both have something the other wishes for! I would still be able to step and pull myself up though because I have something to grab onto over the bed. Maybe you could do something like make some sort of handle that would catch onto the bed rail that would also store in the door pocket for quick access when needed? Just a thought, might be worth analyzing further. Good luck!

I am looking into all potential options. Like I said I have a DB HD on the way, also with the Yakima overhaul HD bars, crossbin, etc.. so I will have some stuff to grab once I get a hoist up. But yes I’ve seen something along the lines of what you’re talking about- door jam foothold.. might look into that. Direct bedside is most important. With the DB front panel and fixed racks, it’s side or nothing! I guess I’ll settle for the AMP model available… or get creative with some mountable fixed foothold or fab something. Thanks.

Yes. I have a Diamondback cover, do exactly the same thing (I should say I have the running bars or nerf bars too.)

How many of you would buy aftermarket aluminum doors, hood, tailgate, etc to get more payload?

Can’t say I wouldn’t be interested in such a thing!

I have a feeling you know this and are complaining about it not having it from the factory, but the 12volt.Soutions remote start does not shut down the engine when you unlock the doors.
