Good morning everyone. I’m approaching the 40K mileage mark on my 2019 Tundra. Last time I had my truck at the dealership for service (35K mileage) they suggested the following services:
    • Brake flush due to prevent moisture buildup in brake system
    • Fuel injector cleaning service
    • Induction service recommended - Top Induction Platinum Service
I did not see these recommendations until after I got home as the rep at the dealership never mentioned it to me. If anyone has any experience or recommendations it would be much appreciated. I didn’t see these listed in the mileage maintenance reference manual so I figured that I would reach out to y’all. I’m going to start taking care of my own oil changes just for peace of mind.

    Thanks

If it's running fine why would anyone clean injectors. Never flushed or changed brake fluid on any vehicle I've ever owned yet. Induction service, lol. Sounds to me like these guys are bored, broke or both.

I unfortunately did the last two services once and did not see really any difference on performance or mpg’s.

However I did do a brake fluid flush on a 7 year old 2003 Tacoma and the brakes felt significantly better after the service. No other brake work was done during that service. So personally, I would not say that particular service is a waste…quite the opposite in my case.

In my experience, you don’t typically notice a difference in preventative maintenance until you put a lot of miles and/or years on your vehicle. Either it’ll keep running like a top, or you’ll really notice the lack of care then.

I agree with everything you said.

Many years ago my family and I had this excellent mechanic. He believed in preventive maintenance but be also believed in the use of quality gasoline and motor oil. On the same 2003 Tacoma the dealership mentioned how clean the intake looked, after the service of course…

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

@Terndrerrr that’s a great point. Ultimately, I want to balance the proper preventative maintenance to extend the life of this truck as far as possible while not paying for unnecessary service at a high markup from the dealer. I still need to get my headlight recall taken care of

Most vehicles made today will not need service beyond oil changes and tires for the first 100k miles. Coolant, spark plugs etc. are long life items in most. Brake fluid is one thing I would do based on time or mileage anyway as it is hygroscopic and will absorb moisture easily. It’s most at risk for contamination in the calipers themselves VS the reservoir. Bleeding the 4 corners occasionally (every 25-40k miles or so) will help prevent corrosion and water intrusion and ABSOLUTELY improve brake performance and component life. Easy $5 job at home with a bottle of appropriate brake fluid and a small wrench or two. A drinking buddy makes the job easier and more funner. One man drip bleeding is ok, but the ol’ pedal pump 2 man method is better at forcing the fluid out with new fluid from the resi and lines.

Under the theory that the current Toyota trucks are at least as good as their older brothers...........my 1997 T100 with 272,000 miles has never had a "fuel injector cleaning service" and it runs today, 25 years later, as good as the day I drove it off the lot. Soooo............there's that.

    None....
Do the brake fluid at 100k or 5 years/ or really whatever the manual says. Don't do the other two services and save yourself hundreds of dollars.

Costco Kirkland brand oil and Mama Toyota filter (from a dealer, NOT FROM Amazon). I buy my filters for a very fair price (just under $4.00 each) in a box of 10 each, from Joseph Toyota of Cincinnati.

I asked a boat mechanic about cleaning the injectors on my Mercury. He said don't worry about unless it is running rough. Out of the 3 the only one I would even consider is the brake fluid flush and then only when I replaced pads. For me that would be at least 100k. I am very easy on brakes even though I tow a 5000 lb boat. Boat trailer has brakes. Dealers make their money selling those services to little old ladies.

I would do zero of those-all money makers for dealer and not required.

Brake fluid change is reasonable since it's hygroscopic. Induction service and injector cleaning waste of time/money. Use only OEM for filters, gaskets. For electrical use OEM or Denso. Oil - any brand full synthetic 0W-20 or 5W-30. I used Walmart full synthetic either in 5 qt jugs or 12 qt boxes. Your truck needs 8.5 qts. Recommend you buy Motiv filter wrench and drain tool. A lot of folks use the Fomoto valve in place of oil drain plug.
