Remote start never works !

Brand new tundra limited remote start don’t work
I do the lock lock lock hold
And the lights flash and you can hear the fuel pump turn on but never starts even from the app it don’t work says contact dealer ?

Note I did have a fuse blow when windows were tinted that would not let me lock my door from the driver side controls or roll down window , I found and fixed it but still doesn’t work

Subscription? Pretty sure 20-21 with app enabled features require a paid subscription like Lexus. Even the FOB won't work. I believe new Tundras came with a complimentary 1 year subscription. After that you gotta pay. Just get an aftermarket remote start that doesn't shut off when you unlock your doors, tech12volts maybe.

 

I can confirm that the old-fashioned way of remote starting Toyota still works on 2022s.
I have cancelled all of my trial/subscription services.
Press the lock button 3x + hold ... and the truck remote-starts.

Range of the remotes on these trucks are another story....grrr.

My experience has been the opposite. Key fob remote start died when I unsubscribed from all of their connected services.

So, i just came across the topic of 3G sunset when I updated my wife's Lexus Enform app to...well...simply the Lexus app. All subscription service options have been permanently discontinued. Not sure if this applies to any Tundras at all. I didn't see any on the list. I thought that 20-21 have that app remote start. Glad i have a 2015 Tundra.
However, my wife's 2016 NX200t is on the list. Her FOB lock, lock, lock, hold remote start never worked because we never subscribed to Lexus Enform Remote or Connect Services. Yes, it's all tied together. I guess we just couldn't get past the idea of spending that much on a vehicle only to continue to pay for a subscription to operate a vehicle we already paid for, pay for maintenance, and pay for gas. But none of that app enabled remote start crap, remote lock/unlock, vehicle status, collision alert, roadside assistance, hot spot, destination assist, or anything else that relied on 3G telematics for that matter, will ever work as of Nov 1, 2022. Toyota/Lexus has no fix.
Sorry, your connected smart vehicle is now dumb or in the dark. Automakers knew this day would come and still continued putting cheaper 3G modems in new vehicles. Sad to see how many vehicles under 10 years old are affected.
I wonder how many aftermarket connected devices (app enabled remote start, trail cams, etc) are affected. One day, LTE will sunset too as all technology constantly evolves. Makes you wonder how great having all of those connected features integrated in your $50k+ vehicles really is. I'd rather add an inexpensive aftermarket modular device that adds the capability over something built-in to a $50k+ vehicle that's now rendered useless. That has to be some form of bait and switch marketing scheme, knowingly or not. Advertise a vehicle with certain features that cease to exist. I feel sorry for those that bought an affected 2021 vehicle only for all those features to terminate in 2022.

"I do the lock lock lock hold". I don't if you're saying the same thing but mine is LOCK,LOCK,HOLD LOCK 5seconds. Light will flash on the remote as well as the daytime running light on the truck.

 

Mine works fine via fob. Sounds like you might have more fuse issues. Try the SOS remote support and if that doesn’t fix it take it in

 

My 2020 Highlander 1-year free trial expired and my key fob remote start still works.

 

I bought my truck second hand, that feature still works. Lock, lock, hold lock for 3-5 seconds or until bsm light flashes and will start your truck.

 

so true, the wife’s 2016 rx350f no remote start now which is super handy during Utah winters! Now I have appointment to have a aftermarket one installed tomorrow for $500

I would say that the remote start feature, both with the fob and a mobile device is literally the height of mediocrity. I would say the last time I had anything functioned so poorly it was when I owned a Windows PC with the Vista operating system. It's almost as if this is the very first year that Toyota has ever dealt with a remote starting system. (I have a 2024 SR5 w TRD off-road package). I've kind of half paid attention to how many times I've been able to get the truck started with the fob, and I think it's a little bit less than one out of 10 attempts have succeeded. I think you need to be approximately 12 inches away from the vehicle to make it work consistently.

 

Do you have the hybrid? If so, the truck won't start up right away. The truck will turn on, then I believe it is 7-30 seconds before the engine actually turns on, unless your driving. I know my Prius did the same thing.
