Yeah I have the bubble gum light. Found my tactrix but haven’t tried hooking up the laptop yet. At least I got this done enough to load.

Ok, interesting, now I have airbag light on and when unbuckled, no seatbelt light, flashing or otherwise. Perhaps my integration relay swap is ok and I do indeed have seatbelt ground problems. Maybe the moisture creates a situation where it became a problem since so cal is fairly dry.

Finally upgraded to UPS my choice for $20 due to porch pirates hitting the neighborhood. Glad I didn’t get any packages this weekend but I know a few neighbors who weren’t happy.

We’ll see how good UPS is rerouting all my shipments to an access point or if there are exceptions.

Now if I can get an Amazon locker built within 10 miles I should be all set. One can only hope.

That worked out for a lot of people in my area, but they're routing to the UPS store a few blocks away.

You know what universally worked to curb porch theft for myself and virtually all my neighbors? Picket fence with an inconvenient latch that's really difficult to open in a hurry. Makes it so drive-bys can't just run directly up to your porch and run out. But our front doors are all 25-35ft from the road, so it's not like a quick fence hop can get you there. And we use spring-loaded closers to force the gate closed after opening, which makes a hell of a lot of noise, attracting unwanted attention to the pirate.

This is the latch everyone started using, you hafta get the arms just right to open it.

    upload_2022-11-27_18-12-47.jpg
    And the spring-loaded closer:

    upload_2022-11-27_18-15-50.jpg

Obviously not the cheapest option. But it's been effective. And obviously not possible if you don't have a yard, HOA restrictions, or any variety of other crap going on

No fence and HOA restricted. 3rd party contractors of FedEx ground likes to do a drive by and toss the package in the middle of your parking spot that anyone can walk up and grab. I’ve complained multiple times with empty promises made by FedEx personnel to do something.

Found a new candidate for ugliest bumper. It looks like it's being held up with a bungee cord.

Price is fair though. 4x4. Close to you @shifty`

This one is more tempting as a potential flip if I had the space or equipment to pull and engine. Seller thinks the timing belt broke or jumped.

Strength of wood is all about how the load is distributed, and whether you're installing vertical or horizontal, with or without gussets.

It’s PT. So, yeah, not gonna burn it.

going to leave the roof and fix the one broken side then convert to cinder block floor. Should have done that in the first place. Honey locust is nearly 5k per cord. I stuffed about 10k lbs on this thing. Impressive it held out as long as it did.

I think three concrete center supports would've definitely helped, as would a corner-to-corner cross. Hindsight 20/20.

It’s only money and time. Hahahaha.

Takeaway? Do truck mods rather than firewood storage mods.

On the subject of cinder blocks, at 38 lbs each, how many would you guys consider safe to haul at a time? I’m thinking 50.

Technically max is 1938 but that's 2wd I'd imagine. And I have a shell, skids, bumpers and sliders, weighed in at the dump at 5500 lbs so going by GVWR that'd be 1200 for payload.

But, I have a crossbrace, hammer hangers, and new leafs which need to get a beatdown. And upgraded brakes. Frame is good, new, heavier coils up front.

I mean, I sure as f feel comfortable hauling 1500.

Always hang joists on a beam. If it were a 4x6 (or even better a 4x8) you woulda been fine. You can just set your blocks (in concrete) around the perimeter and then stack the framing back exactly how you've already got it, right on top of the blocks. 2x6's are plenty strong enough for that short of a span. You'd only need a single course of blocks, so 22 blocks would do it. just my 2 pennies

Apparently locust is close to $5k per cord when wet. I stacked about 6' high on a 6x8 footprint. So, roughly 10k lbs.

A 4x6 would make the sides better but I balked at $32 x 2 at the time and I don't have a clean plan for how to attach on top of the 4x4's now without cutting the roof off. Which is the one part of the structure which is intact and functional and, perhaps ironically, the only truly important part.

I'm just gonna stack directly on blocks. This raised deck is ridiculous for storing firewood. Level and flat and pretty makes a ton of sense for people but a massive pile of wood DGAF what it sits on, I just wanna get it out of the dirt.

Honestly, at this point, I might even stack it in the dirt, but I think I'll at least try to get it off the ground b/c the ground is soupy wet.
