Hey guys so I just got this truck (2008 tundra) and looks like someone before me had cut and spliced the wires for the transmission shifter assembly and I believe it’s the reason I’m getting code p0705 and my reverse lights and turn signals won’t work and I cannot see what gear I’m in on the screen here’s a picture of the wires

If you post a picture of the connector all the wires go to, I can give you a pinout so you know what each wire does. I think I know which connector it is but I dont want to guess.

My advice would be to pull all the added in crap out. Clean up the wire ends, solder and heat shrink any broken connections back together and then finally go through the fuse box to replace and bad fuses.

If it is all on that one lead it should be as simple as matching the colors back together when splicing.

I would also take a second to see where the other end of the splices are going. Trying to figure out why they were added and what they do. I personally don't want any of that kind of crap in my truck. Take your time and diligently make it back to the way it came from the factory. I personally am not a fan of butt connectors or wiring nuts. Make the fix clean and right.

Most people do not like doing automotive wiring, it is even more frustrating when you have to come in behind someone and clean up a mess that was created. Do it once and do it right, you will never have any problems down the line.

It may have been some sort of anti theft method to lock the shifter in park. There are easier ways though.:spy:

8 pin connector going into the rear of the shifter assembly?

Do you need a pinout for this or did you get it fixed.

As I mentioned cutting all the added in wiring out and splicing/matching the colors back up would be my first step
