I was looking for a headache rack prior to the delivery of my truck next month..Typed with Skepticism. With limited success. I did look at a truck at the dealer ship tonight after it closed and was wondering how one would anchor a rack . You dont have access to to the underside of the bed rail or stake pocket like my current GM. Unless I cut some access holes in the plastic ..Pardon me .composite box liner .and then make covers for the access holes. The only other way I see without a bunch of fiddle farting around is to use the rails the tie downs go in .Is this the usual way to mount racks on previous Tundras? How are people mounting racks beside some unreliable self tapping screws

I’ve been using those T tracks for my rack with no problem.

Wondering if you found a headache rack to go with your 2022 Tundra? I have been looking with not much luck, would love to see a photo if you found something. Thanks in advance.

My 2021 headache rack is mounted to 3"x3"x1/4" angle bed rails. The whole assembly is mounted to expandable rubber stake pocket anchors, same as the old school eye bolt type from 1980's. However, I first threaded the stainless 3/8" bolts through the plates at the bottom and epoxied a stainless nut to the bottom of each plate. That way I could apply substantial torque to the bolts without stripping the plate threads that aren't accessible in the pockets. Then I added an easily removable crossbar over the tailgate to rest heavy items on for transport.

My truck finally arrived and I decided not to accept it. To many quality issues.
I was also underwhelmed with the power .Felt exactly what it is .A big truck with a small engine. In fairness it only had 17 kilometres on it so i wasnt about to push it,but it should have been somewhat exciting..Total disappointments after a year of many postponements..

Grab a 21 while you can. There is a real nice 2016 with 65k in Choctaw OK red crewmax with topper and bedrug clean truck for $35000. Saw it on FB marketplace an hour ago.
