Any idea why 2 different MSRP prices for base 2022 sr5 cm 4x4

Any idea $700 difference, same exact build with shortbed.

8361c - $46505
8361a - $45805

I believe 8361 is the actual model code, and the subsequent lower case letter refers to a date code or a "time" within the model year the vehicle was produced. In other words the "a" vehicle was produced prior to the "c" in the calendar year. The price difference is simply coming from an increase in pricing during the production of that particular model year.

 

Interesting, it shows the 8361c has been sitting on dealer lot for 35+ days.

The 8361a is still being built/delivery inbound. This kinda contradicts the A-C build sequence. Maybe this was a weird logistics issue? But it seems opposite C-A.

The price increase from model year 22-23 is higher then $700 - will need to double check this. Looking at a new 22 still built/being delivered and this is $700 cheaper then the other already delivered is super confusing.

I would understand if it was a 23 vs 22, these are all 22, all new for cali. I keep finding weird quirks when you are reviewing/ordering/hunting for the new tundra.

Like for instance the sr5 or trd convenience package (any one that adds BSM - not PVM, does the mirrors power fold?

 

Maybe.... one thing to consider is that the "a" build was part of that first group to come out, and it may have been 'held up' to resolve some of the early issues that reported on the new gen3s, prior to making it to the dealer. Many of those parts were back ordered, etc; and it's possible the "c" build made it out quicker or the "a" build just got held up in logistics.

Anyhow, in my opinion, since the '23s are out now, I'd look toward getting my hands on one of those instead of a '22. The '23s don't seem to have the same amount of reported issues as the '22s, so I'm sure most of those bugs are getting worked out in the next model year. Plus, w/Consumer Reports dropping Tundra from its Recommend Buys list for the first time in numerous years, I'd venture to say that Toyota will step up its attention to detail and maybe even look to throwing out some better incentives to retain/re-capture its market share

On the other hand if you're just looking to grab one as soon as you can, just negotiate your best deal between the two and enjoy your new truck!!!

 

Yea, I just don't want to pay the new sr5 4x4 cm base 23 model year annual increase to 47520, an increase of $1715!

That's absurd.

Still no real answer why 8361c vs 8361a for same model year 2022 has a 700 difference. Or are you guys saying yota is known/ has always been increasing MSRP in middle of year production runs?

 

That pretty much was the 'real answer'. Most manufacturers have price increases a few times each model year; not just a Toyota thing! However, have you thought about calling the dealership(s) and asking a sales manager to explain the difference??

Nope haven't called the dealership. Figured forum ppl in the past have waaaay more knowledge then dealerships ppl.

These are all same base spec sr5 crewmax 4x4 5.5' shortbed.

Was hoping someone would know like the A-C difference is like manual cloth seats vs power cloth seats. Hence $700 difference, also very surprised mfg just raise MSRP in middle of year production runs. Bizarre - how do you keep up with all the marketing stuff from hard print brochures to magazine and news articles etc.

 

There was a bump in MSRP back in June. It was $700. So that's probably what it was. The A is probably a early production date before June that was on hold.
