I think this oil does great in my truck. High temperature protection and easy cold starting. Don’t see where the Toyota oil does this. I still use the Toyota oem filter.

FYI, the Toyota OEM oil is Mobil Super with a different additive package, so many Tundras at least “sort of” use Mobil Super

I’m guessing 0w20/5w20 is too thin.

    Nope here. Costco Kirkland 5W30.

And "yes" the 0W20 is, I guess, too thin. Promotes the diesel sound of the 5.7L V8 engine. 5W30 (which is a Mama Toyota spec'd oil everywhere in the world except C.A.F.E. United States) quiets her right down to darn near a purrrrrrrr.

    Hi Gang,

I have been using Amsoil 0-40 for some time. I am at present using Mobile One 0-40. This all depends on my pocketbook and convenience at the time. Change my oil and filter, too, around when the "maintenance required "light appears. Amsoil is in the transfer and rear end and front end and the transfer case. 75-140. She purrs like a kitten. Even though the cap has 0-20 on it. I do haul and pull a 29 travel trailer. (5000 lbs or so). She is a 2011 TRD with a 430 rear-end ratio.

    Switching to 5w30 myself.
Does anyone think that 0w20 shortens lifespan?

All depends on each individual case. For my truck, I would say "yes" based on how it's used, and where it's used.

I was skeptical about this and used 0W-20 Toyota oil for my last oil change. We've had a couple of cold days this winter and I noticed how much quieter the engine is before it warms up, and I wish it were always like that... So I too will switch to 5W-30 come spring.

I thought about this on my last big tow. 800 miles at 3000k rpm as well as up and down mountain passes. I think it would have been worth while to have a little more viscosity.

Edit: 0w-20 mobile 1 Truck/SUV and OEM filter.
