The wife has been doing it on Nov 1 for the last 10 years or so. This year she had the tree up (with the lights only) on the 31st lol, everything done by the 2nd. I'd prefer she wait, but our arrangement is I don't have to do any of it other than take stuff down from the overheads, which takes me 15 mins. That's a much better compromise than the obvious alternative.

The nice thing about Spotify is that I get to listen to what I want, when I want. I haven't listened to the radio in years and I won't have to listen to any Christmas music at all other than what I'm exposed to in stores. :D

Any time I try to listen to Spotify lately, it gets stuck in some kind of infinite loop where I just get ads forever. Seems like the days of 1 ad then 30 minutes of music are gone.

So basically like radio? Gotta pay the $12 or whatever per month for premium. If you listen to lots of music and podcasts, it's worth it. I use it at least 5 or 6 hours a day, used to be 10+ when I was on the tools.

I think Halloween decorations should be a Santa fighting off zombies. Christmas decorations should be Santa losing that fight.....
That is the only way I'd be ok with Christmas crap being up early.

Fuck it. I can listen to Bandcamp or whatever @snowkitty posts in the punk thread for free and to YouTube with minimal ads.

Nah, it's part of my entertainment budget. When I win the lottery, I'll buy you a Spotify lifetime account or something.

I don't have cable tv at all, just internet. Even after Disney+, Youtube, and Spotify I'm still saving a bunch of money while getting way more and better ad free programming. The spotify account is a family one too, so The Woman also gets to use it so that's basically a twofer.

For the first time, we paid someone to put up the Xmas lights on the house a couple of weeks ago.
And yes I've had them on every night, they're on a wifi timer.
I usually do it all myself but I had back surgery a few months ago and don't need to be on the roof.
I'll probably finish the front yard lights tomorrow, LED wreaths on the windows, and lights in the front flower beds.

We took the Halloween and fall bins to storage Sunday and bought home the Xmas stuff.
It's just me and the wife but she decorates the entire house for Christmas, we usually have 2 trees inside..

See also does 4th of July, Halloween/fall, and a little Easter stuff.
    She loves to decorate.

Even the dog's sandbox has lights on it..

I hate this far more than Christmas music. I have this engrained in my head as I had to listen to it 25 times a day back during my retail job days while I was in college.

May as well have strapped me to a chair in a straight-jacket with my glazzies pried open and make me watch violent videos with this song playing all day long.

Ouch. We're a $125 for gigabit fiber optic internet and our streaming services.

    This is what I pay:
    $65/mo AT&T Gigabit Fiber Internet
    $9.24/mo Disney+/Hulu/ESPN+
    Free w/AT&T cell plan HBOMax
    $11.58/mo ($139/yr) Amazon Prime
    Total: $85.82/mo

I do add YouTubeTV only during football season which runs those months up an additional $65 or so, but it's worth it to get all the football I want to watch no matter what station it's on.

I dropped cable and satellite in about 2009. Insane prices for the few shows actually worth watching.

That's not bad. I think we pay $115 for internet, and it's 'only' 75Mbps, but we live in the sticks, and we pay for a business plan (wife WFH full time and I WFH half the time). I think we pay $40/month for Dish mainly because the wife likes her HGTV and some other shows.

Yes, I feel spoiled right now. I will have to get Starlink when I build my house but the total cost will still be better than paying for satellite TV.

I’ve never understood the argument that spreading more joy somehow robs joy from people.

It isn't spreading joy when you/everyone fights to constantly bombard other people with that ****.
They say some people enjoy it, well, some people enjoy the smell of sewage....

Took down most of our Halloween stuff. I hung Xmas light last weekend mainly due to my work schedule. Our 12 foot skeleton is decorated for thanksgiving. We have a Santa hat for Christmas for him.
