Hello, I have read (oooo scary right) that when you remove the factory tint from the back window, you must sand your defrost lines down a bit so that the tint does not bubble. But anyway, my point is, when you do this, will the defrost lines not work? I have read where they will not, but I’m just checking. Or is it not necessary to sand them down at all? Thanks!

I'm confused by your post. If you're removing factory tint you should be able to do so without affecting defrost.

If you are removing and installing new tint in it's place you can do so directly over the defrost lines. Minimal bubbling, and it's on the back window you never really get up close and personal with it anyway.

You can file down if you want to prevent some bubbles but if you break the circuit that line won't work. Look up how defrost lines work. They are just wires that heat up.

Also consider if you want to go darker than factory you can just apply another layer of tint over the factory tint.

I thought the privacy glass from the factory was baked into the glass. Didn't think you could remove it. Personally, I wouldn't mess with the defrost lines. Electrical problems suck.

I thought about laying something over it. And yes, I know how how the lines work, and yes, it did sound weird to hear that they would not work afterward, but anyway lol. Think a tint shop would have any trouble laying the tint though? I may be feeling the texture through tint, but when I touch the defrost lines they are rough. Sure that they aren’t layed over something?

I think the reason you feel them is because there is no tint, or anything for that matter, over them. They are at the surface, and the factory tint is part of the glass. As far as I know, it's not something you can remove.
