Tundra 2023 Scratch fix

Hey everyone,

Today, by mistake, I scratched my friend's new Tundra 2023. I feel terrible about it and I have, for hours, being looking online for the best remedy to render the car like pristine.

Most online advices say dealer would just send to a body shop and just mark up the fees; is a good body shop the only option? cost is not an issue.

Any advice is appreciated

 

Take it to a good detail shop and see what they can do. It might be too deep for them but it’s worth a shot.

 

I’d take it to a good body shop. Idk how else you would make it perfect

 

A detail shop could possibly make it look better but it will always be there.

No real fixing without repainting the part. Any touch up will be visible

 

Scratch up the rest of the car to make it fit in.

 

Fender well? You could try a cover for the fender but you would have to buy all four.

No fender flares on the truck though? I thought they all came with those.

You have a wider/further pic by any chance?

Is the rest of that chalky looking opague look on the paint where it rubbed something?

My new Tundra was scratched during prep at the dealership or port. The dealership brought in their best independent detail guy and he made it good as new. Real pro detailers can work miracles

 

Unfortunately that’s too deep to fix without re-paint. Hopefully it won’t be too expensive.

 

Not without removing clearcoat they can't. The scratch the OP showed was too deep for miracles

That would be awesome if most minor claims or dealers operated that way, " just a small dent before delivery but it's a truck, here's a $1 bud light! ".

 

For real. Guy is trying to make it right. Gotta love the jackass that adds nothing useful to a conversation.

 

You have a $75,000 hammer? I think we are still on the same page, my work truck is going to get dinged up, it's a tool. But I still like to keep it as nice as possible and avoid silly damage like OP's situation.

 

If I damage something that belongs to someone else, I make it right no matter what it is.

Someone scratches my truck and says “it’s just a truck” should be prepared to hear “it’s just teeth”.
