    Flux capacitor!
Yesterday I was sitting in my parked truck with one open space between me and a Lexus car. All of a sudden a large white economy 12 person van starts to back up between my truck and the Lexus. Keep in mind there were lots of open spaces around. As he starts to back up and I notice he is very close to the lexus car. I was about to honk my horn to warn the guy but it was to late. He hits the back corner of the Lexus over the rear tire. Does he stop reversing after this? No. He keeps backing up until he end up hitting the mirror on the front of the car. So I grab my phone and snapped these two pics. I was getting ready to get out of my truck and the guy quickly speeds off after realizing he hit the other car. There were two people in the van. The van plates were military plates and it looked like it came from camp bullis in SA, TX. So I decided to go inside the restaurant where I was parked and asked who owned the Lexus. Two guys raised their hands. I explained what happened and ask if I could send the pics to them. Luckily I did get the van and the plate number. It was a crappy thing to see someone hit a car and then take off. I went back outside with the Lexus owner and showed him what happened from the van. If you saw this would you have gone inside to tell the owner or would you have taken off after the van? You can see in the photo the other guy next to the lexus was watching in disbelief as well. Government plates too!! I bet that's why that guy drove off. Running the plates won't come back to a specific person. They have to contact what ever military base/ gov't facility and figure out what department that van belonged to and then see who checked it out during the time it was hit. I would have stopped that guy and made him go tell the owner of the lexus as well. You did the right thing by telling the owner. They should be able to track them down and they will have their asses handed to them by their superiors, and their insurance.

Problem was my driver door was next to this idiot backing up. So if I opened my door I was likely to either get hit or have him hit my door. It all happened very quickly. I hope they can find out who was driving the van. I don't know if it was a military person or a civilian driving a military vehicle though.

Yea I don't blame you. Coulda been worse if you got out of the truck. They will be able to find out who was driving it. Gov't vehicles HAVE to be signed out before they get the keys handed over. I know this cuz I was in charge of 75 Air Force Fleet vehicles when I was stationed at Lackland AFB. I've had to deal with this type of shit all the time. I would tell the lexus owner to contact what ever military base is close and tell them they need to talk to the vehicle operations superintendent and give them the plate number. The super will handle the rest as long as they aren't a shitty superintendent lol (had to deal with that too). It'll get handled.

You did the right thing, above and beyond what most would do.

I wouldn't get out of the vehicle and confront them. It's just not worth it, and with the ever so popular road rage issues of today, great way to take a slug. Hell, a driver in Colorado Springs discharged a weapon on I25 Friday night. Luckily he was caught. @Sean266 posted a 20/20 documentary on Colorado road rage the other day. That was an eye opener.

You did the right thing. Tearing off after a stranger could end badly.

As a government vehicle, it was likely part of a pool, meaning someone would have had to check it out. The timestamp on the picture, should allow them to conclude who was driving at the time of the incident. Somebody's got some 'splainin' to do.

I was in a Starbucks last week and watched a lady in a beat-to-shit silver Corolla back straight into an idling Loomis truck. The money guy was in the Starbucks doing a drop off. I watched the lady pull forward and away so I assumed she was leaving, and let the Loomis guy know she hit him.

I'm not sure if she was going to leave and then thought better of it or what, but she circled around and came in.

The Loomis guy was really cool, even joking about it. "It's pretty much a tank...literally. pretty sure it's ok."

You did the right thing. They will know who signed out that van. Someone will be in trouble with their CO/NCOIC for sure.

Nah, you've taken the scenic route.. Let me show you the back alleys and streets where there's a liquor store and check cashed place at every single corner.

I lived by Waukegan, no tour necessary.

Someone could offer me 500k a year to live in Chicago and I would tell them to eat a bag of dicks. There are some really nice areas, but it just doesn't fit my lifestyle. Colorado is getting the same way with all the asshats in Denver.
