Respectfully, that's total bullsh!t. No excuse for any of that in a $50K+ vehicle in 2023, especially a TOYOTA!

Just a short rant. I love my truck. I love driving it, sitting in it, looking at it as I walk away from it, and on my spare time I like to go on YouTube to watch videos to learn more about it. It is getting more and more difficult to find a video that isn't some dude going on and on bashing it as if it were a PT Cruiser with wood panels on the sides. I'm not one who cares too much about what others say, I'm just sick of the negativity surrounding this truck.

    Ok, I'm done...

It actually may be the spare tire chain. I have heard others say they zip tied it to stop it from moving around. It doesn't bother me so I haven't done anything to it.

Is there a way to take a vin and get a listing of the options somewhere here?

The closest thing I know of that is available publicly (i.e. doesn't require working for a dealership) is: https://www.toyota.com/owners/my-vehicle/vehicle-specification.html

It won't show you all of the options installed, but it will show you factory equipment that has been added at the port beyond the factory build sheet.

two places I narrowed this down to

1 the trim on the top of the tailgate was loose on mine. I took the screws out and added truck cap tape to close the gap. It helped.

2 one of the tailgate cables has slight slack (one always does) and it bounces on the side of the composite enough to cause a sound. I haven’t tried any fixes for that.

a bonus one is in the full roll down rear window on the crewmax there is a cable that rattles when the window is down on bumpy roads. Nothing to do here but keep window up.

Well damn a ram. The one thing I hadn’t considered (I’m dumb, I know) was how much the loans have gone up. I have a TRD Pro lined up. Would be financing less than I paid for my TRD Pro 2021 and my payments went up $200+ due to the rates. I had a great rate from my last one but credit score isn’t an issue. Still looking but most credit unions are 4.5% or higher. For some reason I thought they would be lower over the manufacturer financial rates. Trucks move so fast I should have this figured out before. We shall see. If it doesn’t make sense sticking with the 2021 should be an easier decision.

I thought the value for my Lunar Rock 2021 would make this an easier decision, but didn’t consider the rates.

I need to check the dealers math.

Well I finally got the call. Thirteen months and ten days after giving a deposit I will get my TRD Pro in January. Gray Metallic instead of the Lunar Rock that I wanted but that's ok. Had to tell someone!!

Many have reported that the chain for the spare tire is causing noises... they've snagged it up in a variety of ways to stop it from doing that on bumps.

Try running two Ford service shops while driving a Tundra lol. You hear all the crap and then you always have to remind them “my truck has never seen so much of these shop walls”
Normal to hear bashing to be honest but I don’t care, domestic folk will always say “my ford best damn truck ever only had two transmissions and one motor”

Yet my 86’ 22re had 417,000 miles on it with only minor things replaced…..

They really do. and since it's a darker colour and the mustache is colour matched, the front-end looks as well as it can.

Hahaha, my boy has had 6 trucks, flipped a couple and still has 3, all from 1977-1983 running 20R or 22R... The 2 long beds (8') are both blue, vin is 260 apart, and one is a 3/4 ton. That's right a 3/4 ton.

If anybody is looking for a Solar Octane Pro, you might want to reach out to Cumberland Toyota in Cookeville, TN. I just drove by and They have one sitting in their lot by the road with full stickers on it with the rest of the trucks.

    Is it sold? Maybe

Are they charging a huge markup? Maybe

I doubt they would have it sitting out with the rest of the trucks if it is not available. You never know but maybe someone will get lucky.

MGM is a better colour but the Pro doesn't have anything that appeals to me.
