Just curious what other owner’s modes of travel are in icy/light snow conditions when 4x4 doesn’t really seem necessary.

After reviewing the ALSD/TRAC/VSC sticky in the 2nd Gen members page, I tried ALSD in 2wd on the way home from work this am. We got 2-3” of snow last night, much of it packed down by the time I got on the road at 8. ALSD seemed to be the sweet spot I was looking for. I’m often frustrated when driving in normal 2wd mode in slick conditions…the TRAC(I’m guessing that’s what it is) seems to hamper the get up and go from a stop.

Just curious on what others do? Is it bad for the ALSD to be driven for xxx miles at a time? I did read another members fuel economy dropped from using it, but that doesn’t bother me…I remote start my truck in these conditions anyway.

    Thanks in advance

I need to try ALSD as well. Learned about it yesterday.

I was impressed on the short drive, just wasn’t sure if it’s intended for extended use.

From what I’ve read, it’s meant to be use for short use but would like to hear from others.
