I've learned my lesson the hard way on living in a deed restricted community. My wife and I have been there, and done that...never again. Good luck in your quest.

Scammers and idiots responding to a “lost dog” post in FB - attempting to play in the obvious emotion of someone who has just lost a pet.

Neighbor posted her list dog to FB - pretty remote area and not a lot to houses around. She posted earlier the number of people texting/messaging with “I found your dog” - only to ask for payment of reward up front or for a “verification code” they sent via text to ensure she is the owner of the dog. Common scam to hack Google.

And then there’s the truly special person with a space reserved in hell for them who called and said “I found your dog and killed it” - clearly just a disturbed individual- number is across the country and timing of the call and location suggest it’s nothing more than a prank - but still imagine being worried sick about your issuing pet for a week only to get that call early in the morning.

People truly disgust me sometimes. I mean really - there are so many less troubling ways to scam a buck - why target those that are clearly having to process something very difficult.

Bicyclist. When your in los angeles they think they own the road. Like when there's a bike lane and yet they somehow get onto the regular road.

In oregon, they are not required to obey traffic laws. If you are driving down the road and one of them runs a stop sign and you hit them, you are at fault.

Found one of the bastards using my truck for nesting material this morning. Opened the hood to take the glue traps out before heading to work and saw what I initially thought was a cat sitting on my fuse box cover. Nope, not a cat, it was a MASSIVE California ground squirrel. It sat there and looked at me until I lunged to grab it.
I don't think I can fit a snap trap under my hood that will be big enough to get it. So, I'll be grabbing a live trap on Wednesday. I'll try to catch it then relocate it a few miles away.

Bastages! I had squirrels destroying my firewall insulation. I got several of them by putting rat snap traps behind both front wheels baited with peanut butter. I also sprayed across the engine some bitter apple spray, although I don't know how much that helped.

Had to google to confirm - but from memory handling clams in Oregon - they ARE required to obey the law. Enforcement of said law is however a completely different matter though.

    https://www.portland.gov/transportation/walking-biking-transit-safety/bikes-and-law

Law in Oregon is COMPLETELY screwed up.

I seriously once had some punk who hit and killed a homeless man there come back to his insurance- first trying to get his deductible waived under uninsured motorist (claimed pedestrian was at fault for walking in front of him in a crosswalk) and then contested the value of his precious little car fighting to say it was a “rare special edition” - actually the t was just a poorly modded base model he tried to make it look like something it wasn’t. Never will forget that one - had his case for 2 years and had to file multiple answers to complaints - he’d lose one and file a new one 5 minutes later.

    2020 "stop as yield"
I was witness to one where the car was turning left in a 2 straight/2 turn and got hit on passenger fender by a bicycle that went straight through from the right and the cop actually gave the car a ticket for failure to yield right of way.
I'll stop now before I get political and get a time out.

Earlier this year I had one blow a stop sign and run full speed into my truck. Cop ended up going to the hospital and giving him a ticket. Did a surprising bit of damage to my truck.

Did he need the hospital from the impact with the truck, or did you teach him the error of his ways afterward?

Hate these people, they don’t value their lives at all and I think they purposely want to get hit so they can sue for money. They ride down 55 mph country roads with huge trucks passing by only 3 feet away. Last week I seen a bicyclist pull out in front of a concrete truck on a 55 mph road. Lol, no common sense.

As someone who used to ride (and occasionally still does), that shit pisses me off too. The country roads, depending where, are generally safer than congested city roads simply due to less traffic and as such, more room to pass with the other open lane. Just like every other segment of society, the assholes make it rough on the rest by reinforcing negative stereotypes.

Chased down and caught some thieves who stole some of my logging signs. Won't go into detail as they were minors, but they were confronted and signs were recovered on site as they drove up a road that is blocked 5 mile up. Opted not to press charges but filed a verbal report with sheriff's office for verbal trespass.
The first sign they stole was "Watchman On Duty". I guess they thought it was lying.

Hope that it may have straightened them out a bit. Most kids these days are sorely lacking in anything that resembles boundaries or discipline.

I hope so. Driver and rear passenger apologized, front passenger tried to talk smart after I had the sheriff's deputy talk to them but I just tuned him out.
Now I'm just pissed that I had to wake up as I was trying to catch up on sleep last night by going to bed at 7. However, now I'm wide awake and need to be up in 2 hours for my day job, and am going to have to work the weekend also....
I will fwd the incident report to the ranger in charge of this section and again ask for an official closure so I can gate the road.
I'm sure my foreman wasn't too happy about me calling him at 0130 either. But he can take a nap on the job without getting in trouble.

I remember when a simple call to the parents would ensure that this NEVER happened again. These days, the parents will more likely attack you for bothering them.

Fast food workers. Stopped at Salad and Go on my way home from work. Not busy at all, zero people in the drive thru. Ordered 2 cobb salads with chicken and ranch dressing, one with an extra ranch dressing. Pull forward, pay, get food and receipt. Receipt says:
    2 Cobb salad
    2 Ranch
    2 Chicken
    2 Extra ranch
Get home and open bag, no extra dressing. Now I have to eat a dry-ass salad. I might have to drink and extra beer or 2 to make up for the lost nutritional value of the dressing.

Will wonders never cease! I actually really like salad, especially when they have bacon on them like this did.
