My engine harness looms are getting brittle particularly the wires to the injectors. I've not found any replacements in Toyota OEM gray. Anyone found a solution for repairing our Gen1 wiring harnesses? Thanks

This is the same for my injectors and my coils. Whatever that rubbery stuff is has degraded. I have a bunch of 3/8" split loom, strongly considered just looming it and TESA tape over it.

@shifty` - I was thinking same. Debating between Tesa tape and the non-adhesive tape GM uses. Kinda worried that any adhesive will be a sticky mess in the heat.

I'm in no way an authority on this. Though I am interested given that I have a '97 T-100 that is my daily driver.

What about the "tape" like material that is used for wrapping motorcycle exhaust header pipes?

I've never used it so I'm speaking/typing from a bit of ignorance. This? >> https://www.amazon.com/Design-Engin...t=&hvlocphy=9012572&hvtargid=pla-450903913138

IIRC, for the injectors and coils, Toyota opted for a looser-fitting sleeve, I'm assuming it's intentional to create an airgap, reduce heat reaching the wire? Whatever replaces may be worthwhile to use the same. I figure if it's in a loom, and the loom is Tesa-taped, it emulates the old setup. Split in the loom would make it easy to chase over the wires w/o needing to de-pin anything, then the tape will hold the loom shut.

Tesa tape is what I did on one of my engines, split loom would work but I don't think it looks as good for short spans like that.

I had the same issue on my T4R and used some Tesa tape and then reflective heat tape around the plastic parts that go behind the engine. Worked pretty well and no issues.
