Has anyone painted/wrapped the horizontal bumper piece below the grill? Think it would look a lot better color matched, but hoping to see some pics before I decide to do it myself. Pic for reference.

The pic above of just the lower grille color matched is also my Tundra, but I had wrapped it vs painting at that time.

Wow I love that. Details please!! Did you remove them and had them painted, or did you have them painted while on the truck? Cost? I didn’t know that they can paint over black plastics like that.

    It looks spectacular.

I have a friend of a friend that has a Body and Paint shop, he prepped and painted all three pieces for $300,lower grille, lower bumper cover and license plate holder. All three pieces come off very easy, maybe 5 minutes to remove, I removed and took it to him. Only thing of note, for some reason the grille surround pieces on the Lunar Rock TRD Sport are a different shade than the body color, not sure why. But he color matched using VIN color code which matches the body perfectly but is a shade off from the grille surround that it butts up to, I’m ok with it. It’s not as shiny and smooth as the wrap was but the wrap was lifting in areas within a week in the sun, APA films.

That’s a great price. I have the Lunar Rock APA film too. I did the rear bumper panels already. I tried to cover the chrome handles but it started to lift away as well and just pulled it off.

I want to wrap the grill surround since I have the limited. Hopefully it doesn’t lift like the handles did.

I am actually thinking of pulling all pieces off and taking it in to get painted.

I can take more tomorrow. I will say the Oracle is pretty damn near a perfect match to MGM. It looks so much better in person. Debating what I’m gonna do with the Toyota and IForce Max badges. I’m thinking gloss black or MGM.

I had mine painted that way. I took my front end apart and took the pieces to a shop to have them painted.

Did you have to remove whole grill/front bumper to get those pieces off or is there a way to just take those two lower pieces off without removing the grill/mustache/bumper?

I thought about it but I’m holding off for now. I’ve seen others who have done it and it seems a bit much. I like that the black lower valence gives it some contrast.

looks sharp. and I agree leave the lower piece black, it breaks it up nicely.

toyota needs to ditch the glowing chrome logo though, should be black chrome on that model to match the grill

You'll need to pull the front clip from the truck, then take it apart from there. There are a few videos out there. It's not bad, but I would definitely give yourself more than 5 minutes.

There is a video on Youtube where the guy pulled the piece that says Tundra straight out the front, but you have to bow it (bend like banana) in the middle out first as the side are wedged into the mustache on the left and right side. I would think that would be tough to do without scratching paint.

Have removed and replaced my pieces on both my 2022 Tundras without removing the whole front clip, no retaining clips broken, zero scratches. You just need to start by separating the lower outer bumper/mustache piece from the lower bumper center on each end, they are clipped in. By laying under the front, you can see where it clips in. Then you just work your way up, it all pops right out. Thats crazy that you actually took off the whole front clip to remove that one piece.

I removed 4 pieces: grille surround upper, sides, and that "Tundra" piece.

Ahh Gotcha...the question you quoted/responded to was asking specifically about removal of the (2) lower grille/bumper pieces. Grille surround/mustache removal is definitely a different animal. Not looking forward to removing the whole front clip when I eventually change to the heritage grille.

I was nervous before I took it off (I pulled it all apart with only 62 miles on the truck), but it was a lot simpler than I imagined. If I had to replace just that "Tundra" piece, I'd probably pull the front end again. There are a couple clips on that piece that are behind/above the fog lights that you can't see from laying under the truck. I would guess that you just got lucky not breaking those.

A tip on pulling the front end off: take off 2 of the bolts holding the top brackets to the truck and use some clamps in their place. This will keep the entire front-end from falling and you can just remove all the other bolts/screws while it stays secure.

Also took me a while to figure out: on the front sides where it meets the fenders, only pull off the skin. There is a plastic mounting bracket that needs to stay with the truck. When you slide your front hand under there, your fingers will run under that mounting bracket and it will feel like it wants to come off with the front. Just the skin on top. You can see what I'm talking about in those pics I posted.
