It's a winning situation for those who are mechanically inclined haha. I won't lie I've done got myself into that situation working on a mod. YouTube videos excepted cause I'm sure many of us are 90% YouTube mechanic certified

The problem with youtube is...it should be a last resort, not the first. By being reliant on youtube, you are doing yourself a disservice. Try being analytical in your thinking. It is just so infuriating to no end, when someone wants a a fellow member to refer them to an youtube video for something so simple, as changing a tire or jump starting a car. I don't want to sound like an asshole, but what if there were no youtube? I am not the brightest person by any means, but i find youtube to be crutch, for those that do not want to think.

Youtube is information sharing, just modernized. Watching some rando on YouTube do a task and learning from it is like watching your uncle do it. It’s good exposure, but should be taken with a grain of salt, and verified by consensus (many videos and comments confirm), or by comparison (measured against more official texts). I wouldn’t call it a crutch as it may reveal pitfalls ahead of you and how to be prepared for them.

I live in a smaller town. I wanted to buy everyone lunch one day. So basically go to all the food joints and tell them I was doing the "car in front of you paid" but I'd just pay for all the meals.

I see the conversation going like this:

    4x4_Angel: "What's wrong? I thought you wanted a Tacoma?"

Daughter: "That was before you had $1.9billion. I want a G-Wagon now."

Wait till you find out there are people who go to special buildings with people in them who teach you things and give you books to read. They even test you to see how well you learned it. Talk about a short-cut!

My wife and I play this game sometimes.

    - Hire a lawyer and accountant duo
    - Retire from my job and my new job becomes managing my portfolio and philanthropy
    - Establish a VERY comfortable salary from dividends on diverse and conservative portfolio
    - Create a plan B and C incase things go pear shaped
    - Because this is a truck forum, I'd sell my vehicles and lease a really small fleet of Toyota and Lexus products
    - Buy a nice, but not crazy, boat for lake days

    With the rest:

    - Figure out how to set my kids up for life without making them horrible people
    - Payoff my house
    - Payoff my family's houses
    - Buy my dad a new Tundra and my mom a Lexus
    - Buy my father in law a new Tundra even though he is a Chevy guy. Mother in law in gets a Lexus.
    - Build my wife her dream house on a few acres with a good sized detached garage/shop
    - Gift my current home to a young family just staring out
    - Build my dream cabin on many, many acres of unexplored land
    - Establish a trust that regularly sends large donations to a few organizations including Huntsman cancer research, Primary Children's Hospital, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint's worldwide humanitarian aid arm.

As being someone who went to college, I am all fully aware of these "special buildings" you speak of, but there is a big difference between reading and watching a video. One requires a little more intelligence than the other...

Learning is learning. Lazy is asking someone to do it for you rather than learning a useful skill. Skill doesn't care how you got it, just THAT you got it. Some people learn better if they can see what they're doing.

More or less what I was trying to convey, about being lazy.
