Are any of these catch cans actually oil separators ? Do they return the clean air to the intake or the atmosphere?

It gets cold AF where I live and have read that bad things can happen when the catch can freezes.
Seems like a good idea to keep the goo out of the motor but not at the risk of a problem in the middle of nowhere.

I could only see that being an issue if you were lazy and didn’t ever empty it until it was all the way full which is a bad idea for anyone regardless of temps. I empty mine regularly probably every 1k miles. It never had more than a 1/4” liquid in it and the reservoir is probably 3-4” tall. Even if it froze and expanded the same amount as water by about 10% it wouldn’t make any difference.

I checked mine frequently at the beginning to see how quickly it was filling up. Now I just do it with every oil change and there is still plenty of room in the can to go much longer.

Live in Denver and had a cc on my WK HEMI. Never saw issues with the cold. It wasn't blown but caught a decent amount of oil

What's interesting like I mentioned before is the prospeed basically vents back into the valve cover. Nothing to drain etc which is odd but I'll probably add cleaning it out to my maintenance routine

The main reason that you want a catch can on a SC engine is that the oil mix/ass juice going back through the intake is not good. Not only does it coat the SC rotors but it also coats the intercooler, thereby inhibiting the heat transfer process. It you are spraying meth it will clean some but most here are not at that level, yet...

that makes sense, Will order one soon. I would rather dig a ditch than work on cars but i suppose I can handle emptying the thing semi refgularly.

Old school fix for engine bay heat without vents; hood spacers. Lifts the windshield side of the hood up a bit.

Doesn't fill up very fast, only notice it if you do a bunch of WOT runs.

Had a double rich banks code pending, followed by a maf and double rich banks pending. Cleared up on its own. Wondering if it is cold temps related.

Good call. Mainly keeps impurities out of the blower. A few PCV articles online talk to its purpose.

You weren't kidding. For a second I thought you were messing with me but I think you are right! The posters name threw me off. I knew a Turkish coffee shop owner named Turb Oskits back in the day. Nice fella but the coffee was shit.

If a turbo kit was available for the same price as a supercharger when you purchased, who here would have been more interested in that option?

I think it would be fun and make some sweet turbo noises, but I don’t like being the first to adopt something brand new. I’d also be worried about lacking the down low off the line punch in comparison. Tough call, definitely would like to hear more.

It’s the down low that matters in a truck

Depends on the turbo type but I would still probably go supercharger. Not racing my truck. Blower seems better suited for towing and hauling.

Twin turbo would be amazing and it would give amazing power/torque, especially down low in the rpm band where it's needed/wanted.

A well designed TT kit for a non-dyno queen purpose would be excellent

Variable geo or twin scroll would work
