Any update on this problem? Happens to me every day. Only a matter of time before I’m a sitting duck and the truck won’t go. Dealer keeps telling me it’s turbo lag and normal. This is a hazard.

How much lag are you talking about? I have spun my tires off the line when I hit the throttle too hard.

I’m talking about 4 to 5 seconds. I step on the gas and nothing happens then suddenly the truck surges. My wife thinks I want to burn out all the time.

If you don't report this to the NHTSA it does not exist. Please report these issues.

I don't have an answer but misery loves company. My wife has grown used to it and no longer says, "what the heck" when I drive like a 13 year old starting from a stop. It's intermittent, but it makes me look like I'm learning to drive a stick shift!

Sounds like you need a new dealer and go up the chain through Toyota. There is no way that that is turbo lag. Rookie mechanic. Stepping on the throttle should make the vehicle more not sit there for 4-5 seconds.

I'd assume I'm in the same boat as the OP, Toyota says one of the last updates "fixed" the issue. It's like beating your head against the wall dealing with this company - never again for me!

...fyi I have changed dealers as well as opened a case for this. They actually closed the case because they didn't have a solution at the time!!! Wtf!!

This is a conversation with Toyota:
    Me: grass is green
Toyota: no sir, grass is purple
Me: no, I'm looking at it. The grass in front of me is green
Toyota: sir, we apologize that you feel this way. Have a nice day

Happens to me occasionally too. Super annoying. Makes it seem like I don’t know how to drive.

Is this a 2022 only issue, or are people also having this issue with 2023 models?

I feel for you and others. Toyota today isn't the Toyota of yesterday. I think they have put too much technical crap in vehicles nowadays. I really hope that they get their shit together because at this point I don't think the 3gen is going to make it to the long haul. I hope it does because I really don't want any of the Big 3.

Since most of these posts are ref to this problem is there a poll posted so that we can see what the percentage of members are having this issue? Or can someone make a poll? I'm fortunately not having that problem but would like to see the numbers.

I'm curious if putting it in different driving modes makes any difference? Do you still get the same lag if you have it in sport? Any yes like others have said that's not turbo lag at all, hahaha. I can't believe they told you that. I haven't had this issue in my truck yet which is a September build '22.

Yes. Happens in both sport and normal mode. It's most problematic for me when I want to ease into the throttle. I'll move the pedal what I estimate to be 5 to 10% with zero response before it catches and gives a little lurch. I generally feather the throttle now to avoid it.

My theory is that the transmission is trying to decide what gear it wants to take off in. I have no evidence to support that though.

You should see if you can replicate it in S mode; if not it would support your theory.

It’s a little better in sport but still there. I brought the truck to the dealer twice and got the same line of bs.
I’m planning to go to a different Toyota dealer that I purchased my previous 2 tundras from for my 10000 mile service. Will see what they have to say.
    I’ve filed a NHTSA report.
