Yeah I cut soda out of my life a long time ago, I guess health reasons but different, more like climate health? Working alone on roofs or wherever in the heat, water is your friend and soda makes dehydration worse!
My new job is definitely less strenuous but still physical sometimes. We have a big campus, maybe I should walk laps instead of driving them, probably see more stuff anyways

I had to go look up who that was. I never watched TK, too much FL vibe hovering around that one, I left for a reason.

Anyone have use for this TXV? Brand new in box. Just replaced both our units, this was a backup for when ours inevitably shit the bed, but it never did.

    Welcome to my life ....

I see these run $100+ from a reputable store but they're available new on fleaBay for around $40, happy to sent it to someone for free if they can use it.

I'll probably post this as a freebee over on the marketplace, thought I'd throw it out for my 1GT homies for first dibs. It's been declutter central over here. Remodel finally almost finished. Trim and doors today. Paint Monday. Ceilings hopefully before T-giving, but we'll see.

Can you hold off til this afternoon, so I can see what mine is? I keep a capacitor as a spare, but don’t know off the top of my head what size mine is (and whether parts are interchangeable).

Sure! Won't post 'til you check back.

And on that note, depending which caps you have, I've got a couple of spares I don't need now we've got new units. Happy to toss in if you can use them. If not, at least one or two of my neighbors whose houses were built at the same time still have one of their original units and can probably use. They don't like working on their own stuff like me, though.

Some things are scary, and no one wants to get zapped. The only reason I am not afraid of a capacitor is, I swapped one out without getting killed, before I learned they have to be discharged :eek2:
The AC had not worked for several weeks during early pandemic times before I decided to try to fix it myself; so I guess it had discharged itself.

I was shocked at tg 3 times in the 4.5 years I worked there. Never shocked at Bilstein, and I've been shocked at least once a month at delta since I started there in July.

I might be weird, but I like how a nicely charged 120V cap can burn a nice divit in a large screwdriver when discharging.

You only need to remember at least a couple rules when playing around with ac/dc voltages greater than 50 volts.

    1. Wear insulating soles to your shoes
    2. Always have one hand in pocket so if you get zapped, it’ll go finger to finger and not finger through heart.

I took 240v straight across the chest. I was putting a meter back in and wasn't thinking. I had a finger on each terminal in the back. Yeah, that hurt.

    I've got 277v 3 times, and 120 countless times. 277v doesn't play around.

Reminds me of a place I worked long ago. There was one machine that no one wanted to operate. I was for making a connector for HVAC system ducts and once in a while you'd bet a nasty zap while operating it. We'd complain, they'd roll it into the maintenance area, declare it to be working perfectly, we'd get chewed out for wasting time, and it would be plugged back in and we'd start working again. We always made sure our gloves were dry and any holes were taped up. One day we were working carefully and complaining about the possibility of getting zapped when the boss (son of the company founder) walked by and told us to quit trying to get out of work. He grabbed a pair of glove and quickly ran a couple of sheets of metal through it to show us how it was done. He slid the second much farther than necessary and it touched the machine next to the problem machine. A bright flash blew a bit of the metal off of the corner of the sheet. He went straight to the maintenance shop and brought back the guy that worked on all of the machines. He checked and sure enough there was plenty of voltage between the two machines. It rolled on rubber wheels that kept if from shorting out more often. It turns out that the round plug on the machine was the wrong one (I'm not an electrician, I'll leave the details of it to the guys that already know what was wrong) and it could be plugged into the socket more than one way. Sometimes it was safe, sometimes it wasn't. Oddly, no one knew why it never failed in the repair shop. My guess is they rolled it into the shop, had a smoke, and rolled it out. We never had a problem after the plug was changed.

My least favorite zap was laying in 3” of shit water in a 16-20” crawl space to trouble-shoot a backed up sewage pump at night. The worst part is the damn rodent that chewed through the 120v wasn’t anywhere to be found.

Oh, I read Beau’s post. I get it. It’s not the hand in pocket; it’s the not touching the electrics with both my hands at the same time.

I guess I’ve been somewhat fortunate with regard to getting zapped and one of the reasons I got out of working with switchgear equipment after hearing the horror stories. 50v and lower for me, thank you.

I did get zapped at work once due to working with an outdated power supply with frayed ac wiring and no protective wiring guard. It threw my arm back from the shock when I accidentally touched it and my arm hit my coworker in the boob. I was so shocked I didn’t know what to say to her other than sorry.

You don’t want to conduct a path through your heart by grounding or touching a higher or lower voltage potential with the other hand.

Wait a minute. Women don’t have real working pockets on their jeans, do they? That’s a problem if that’s the case.

I always have an image in my head of what people on here look like and am always wrong about it. Not in any negative way. Just always different.

You bring that price down about 10k and it seems reasonableish. (I see this is an old listing and not one you are trying to buy) The C4 market has not gone up like a lot of other vehicles have. If you pay more than 15k it better have 6000 miles on it or be a ZR1. Not sure about your budget but there is a C4 out there that will fit anyone's budget. 96 6 speed cars are the ones to have. They got the LT4 with some more power. Unless you are making the big leap to ZR1 but then prices go up a decent bit.
