I've driven in some pretty windy on-road conditions and it is noticeable but not scary. It's a lot less surface area than a high roof van imo.

As far as windy conditions while camping, I can 100% vouch for the tent and the awning. Twice now I've camped for days in ridiculous wind. On both trips people were losing tents and ez ups all around me. My awning was never bothered. There was a scary moment where two ez ups had been tied to my awning by tapestries and lights, and while away from camp a dust devil picked up both ez ups and totally mangled them. They were putting crazy stresses on my awning at the same time. I actually missed the whole thing, but my camp mates said they thought it was broken for sure. All appears to be totally fine. I didn't even have the awning legs down nor my guy lines to anchor it during that setup. Had I taken all the precautions I think it would have been rock solid.

Used Leer 100XL on my 21 CM. I've had Snugtops on previous Toyota trucks, this is my first Leer. So far, I'm impressed. Still need to replace the seals between bed and shell, wire it, replace the keyless lock, and touch up some blemishes.

Ironic that speaking for myself I can't walk out the door without a cap on but I'll be damned if I put one on my truck

No one asks me to borrow my truck in any case because they already know my answer and there's no wiggle room on that!

I have an ARE, pretty sure it's an old CX. It has the windoor on one side, and a toolbox (which I removed) and solid door on the other. being able to open the windoors to access the bed is so crucial!

Can anyone tell which model ATC this is? I tried reaching out to ATC, but they told me to go to a local retailer.

This is really similar to what I'm hoping to build on a RCLB! Curious how it's working out for you so far. I'm actually tempted to go with the DCU 30-36" wedge because I'm pretty tall and sitting headroom would be tight with the 32", but don't want to cause any more drag than I need to. Anyone know if there are builders who'll make a custom wedge that runs from 23" or 26" up to 36"?

Was planning on color matching it, although the orange and black doesn’t look bad. For sale if anyone is interested

Im pretty stoked with the topper. Glad I went with the dimensions I did as it is pretty roomy inside, and it didn’t really change my fuel mileage much. It’s works great for my purposes as a backcountry camper. I was a little disappointed in the build quality. I ordered it new and it had a few items missing from my build sheet and it leaked. So the first one was sent back and they built me another new one. It’s still not great as the rear doors are off by about 1/8” from each other and the surface area that the doors closed against wasn’t sufficient to keep the doors from pushing inward when driving down rough roads. I fixed this by adding some larger door stops. But it doesn’t leak and has served my needs so it’s a win. Just don’t expect perfection.

Yeah, I've read similar issues with build quality from others. Glad they re-built it for you. Did you go through ARE to get the re-build or just the local builder? I'm still trying to wrap my head around the relationship between ARE and the shops that build their caps.

I ordered my topper through an ARE dealer in Denver called Suburban Toppers. I can’t say enough good things about them. They were the ones that suggested ordering a whole new topper. They dealt with all of the details for me and even talked ARE into a discount off of the original price to cover my gas and time for the extra 500 mile round trip that I had to make. I was even allowed to use the first one until the new one came. Like I said, Suburban Toppers in Denver is the place to go for customer service, glad I bought through them.

Nice! A complete opposite of my ARE dealer. They acted like I was a pain in the ass when I showed back up with issues. After that I just fixed everything myself. But its a better top now and does not leak. The build quality is not up to the price of these things. Seems to be a trend with many things these days. I still wouldn't change things, I really like the top.

I agree Wallygator. I like my top too. Our toppers are so usable and easily modified compared to a fiberglass model. And I dig the industrial look. I’d probably buy one again.

Looks great! Glad to hear you had such a good experience with Suburban Toppers. If anyone else has recommendations for builders that have stepped up to address issues with their work (or that have just done a great job from the start), especially if they're in the mid-Atlantic or Southeast, please share 'em.

Also still curious if anyone has had a builder create a custom wedge, through ARE or otherwise.

Just installed an ARE CX Evolve. Love it!
I was very specific with my dealer on how to install it. I had some problems with an ARE CX on my 15 scratching the box. They played ball and life is good. Good dealer.
I found that ⅛” shims on top of the rail keeps the skirt from hitting the painted parts. I used a strip that I ripped from a 2x4.
