This warm spell is very odd for Ohio this time of year. But I'm not complaining.

I wouldn’t complain either. Another opportunity to take the WS-6 red rocket out for a spin. This red rocket has my attention.

I have some round cut down and thinly sliced into carne asada… i found a hole in the wall butcher here :yes:also gonna prepare some nopales and guacamole, perhaps salsa too.. idk

For as much freaking “mexican” around here (tx), i sure the heck am sooooo flip’n shocked, bamboozled, and kinda pissed (tbh), that i felt heap tons closer to “mexico/mexican” while in Idaho than i do thus far in Texas and mexico is freakn’ next door!!! Yes, ive explored!!

Been disappointed for weeks now… not a single “authentic” place(s) ive tried has gotten a stinking “authentic taco” right… and idk why all the red salsa ive been served at these establishments all taste like spaghetti sauce to me..

im tripping balls abt this fr… but my food comes out exceptional with the ingredients down here so thats a huge plus but golly fuck me runnin backwards i haven’t happened upon something that tastes like CDMX, Jalisco, Puebla, Manzanillo, Vera Cruz, Coahuila, Baja Cali, and Pocatello ID and its got me simply frustrated…

So yes, i know what a “street taco” is and is supposed to taste like at the minimum!

Last night i got called being tooo mexican for wanting actual “meat” in my tacos and not just grease, gristle, skin and bones along with it… i said excuse me for enjoying carnitas (spicy pork) with absolutely none of that. I asked before ordering if we could “minus” such and just leave the meat… he (a mexican, could tell by his vernacular) says goodness someone is special from “mexico city” i must say i do have a lot of family there and visited often… but dang soooo much good food everyfuckinwhere no contest and when you happen the rare case something that isnt, its shocking. So maybe i am a little big (mexico) city schnooty, but hey im adamant abt food being right esp when one pays for it! Doesnt matter to me, heck my local chic fil a and whatabuger do phenomenal at impressing me more…

He says ill try … uh oh… the pork tacos come out with tons of grease fat globs and gristle (which i cast aside) and slivers of meat. im sorry it “tastes” ok the flavor was “authentic” but damn i could care less bc i was being served sheee i cut and throw away… was sooo upset abt it too… he was upset too and told me that i was just a “too pretty boy mexican from the city whose too much up and in and abt himself”… ooof! I was livid then became more so when i got an allergic reaction… had to have been something i ate:mad:o_O.

Called my ahh down, still was freakin hungry even after paying a small fortune for shee tacos they said would discount but didnt… didnt want to try anything else or cook for myself… so i indulged in some bad ass gluten-free cake from kroger my lady likes … oof but now imma hike it off…

Sooo… there ya have it Chris! ya asked a simple question in good vibes and got my long winded shee soapbox abt what has been frustrating me food wise…:( but imma keep explorin… gotta be sum good schtuff, tacos sumwhere… alr enuff abt this, great day yall!

Damn Matt…that sucks. We have some pretty damn good Mexican places here in CO. Totally get it’s funny Idaho had better food than Texas. Same for Montana (where I was born and raised). One of my best friends is from Mexico, family immigrated when he was young, and they moved up north to MT. I always had great food. :D Another good friend is Laotian…so life was good.

    Awesome to hear.

now i will clarify, there IS tons of awesomeness in regards to good food here!!! Yes, sir there sure da heck is!

however, im really into mexican food (like duh, its my palate) and will critique it the HARDEST when its off… two places here are passable (albeit, with almost deal-breaker issues) but im sorry not sorry, thats just not “good enough” esp when i recall great mexican food everywhere down here as a kid…

but yes, phenomenal food for sure! my lady has shown me a lot of great eating here thus far… heck she also has prepared sum kick butt burritos herself that were closer than stuff out there and shes a german-britt texan!…

But “mexican cuisine” here?? still looking

Hope this doesn't come across as racist but if I walk into a Mexican restaurant and I can tell everyone's first language is Spanish, I'm usually pretty sure it's going to be good!

well, at least to me it isnt… im mexican (actually tolteca, but who cares and needs another cultural/history lesson anyways) and i will boldly say that i have done the exact same … however, i will also add

that i have been frustratingly been deeply disappointed (hence my above rants) but have also been sooo pleasantly flippin surprised when i have walked into an establishment where the spanish was “broken” and had sum of the best mexican ever!!!

so ye, it takes all of us…

I assume the same thing for German and Thai food restaurants. Haven’t been disappointed yet.
