This only applies in California though, bunch of damn wackos....used to live in Corona as well as Fairfield. I will take northern California over Southern California any day. Thank god I'm no longer there. Sanfrancisco used to be nice, not anymore....

I’m completely remote - no premise to escort me off of.

I could give a shit less about the bonus / it’s a few hundred - it’s more principle thing. Technically it was owed me and not paid when it should have been. Was a red flag though - they “forgot” to process it. I called and they said they would correct and emailed me the confirmation.

It’s a common practice to say “we’ve received your 2 weeks - we will pay you for the next 2 weeks - but effective immediately you have no employment related work to be done”. Basically a 2 weeks vacation at the company request. This is different - they are terminating without cause AFTER I said I’m leaving.

The boss was nice enough to share this info - after asking that I clean things up for him and organize all my files so it’s easy for him to sort out and redistribute. We previously agreed it would take about 2 weeks to do this - so now he wants it done in 3 days - and ti pay me only for those 3 days. Wanna guess how much I do to help them out ?

I know - a lot of red flags - just glad I’m out. Job market is booming right now - but never see such a petty ass company. I mean I get ending ASAP to avoid any bad actors - but some of the things I’ve been asked to “return” are just a joke. All certificates or training obtained while employed with the company for example - guess they think that keeps me from “using” that training at another job somehow?

I expected this in a way - but the level of petty is beyond unreasonable. Just say thanks - here’s s letter verifying your dates of employment and a list of contacts for your benefits and move on. No need to be a child about things. Oddly - the now 2nd worst place I split from was the company who tried to hire me back that helped start this who downfall.

My wife went through 1-2 companies like this. There was some serious Kool-aid drinking going on at one of them and they acted like they couldnt possibly understand how someone could leave and got all offended.

Of course, the company was women run and they bragged about it non-stop but then ran it like a sweat shop.

Too many women at a company is a recipe for trouble. They just can't get along for whatever reason. There is always drama.

I worked at a small company years ago that was 90% female. There were maybe 10 guys total in the company. One day in the break room a lady approached us (I think 4 of us guys were hanging out for lunch) and asked if she could start using our restroom because "there's a bunch of nasty ass bitches here and the women's restroom is always trashed." We told her sorry, but no. If we let you we have to let everyone use it. Our restroom is nice and clean, and we intend to keep it that way.

She sighed and dejectedly said "I don't blame you. Guess I'll try to hold it until I get home every day."

Todays complaint - people feeling the need to announce their departure from Twitter because they don’t agree with the idea of free speech.

Not to be political at all - in fact the opposite. People get all upset that Elon takes over and is going to allow some freedoms to everyone and someone gets upset because differing opinions than theirs might be shared - why ?!?

Obviously there are limits to freedom of speech - and we have groups that ensure these are followed. Limits should not be “censoring” content to only those approved by the ruling party or majority opinion. Harmful content/that which violates the law or encourages violations of the law sure. This is part of the free and democratic political process - allowing all voices to be heard and letting the people decide - not censoring those we don’t agree with.

Just another reason to stay independent and form your own opinions. Too many people form opinions based on what someone else tells them or based on how likable the messenger is. Just because we differ - doesn’t mean that I need to attack your position and show how superior mine is. It’s thinking like that which has driven us to this point now and created the divide that exist. The more people continue to separate and demand platforms pander only to their position - the worse this will get. Historically - it takes a couple of generations to undo this level of a divide. Gotta wonder if the next generation will continue this thinking or be the one who starts making it better.

There are a lot of people who announce their departure from this site in the "Banned BST memorial thread" because they don't agree with site rules regarding free speech.

Joking aside, one has to learn that not everyone experiences the same things in life. That life itself is not fair or just, and we're all out here struggling to do the best we can. That the way you learned to do things is not necessarily the only or best way to do things. Basically, one has to learn they are NOT actually the center of the universe.

    Well said.

We get it here and every other forum out there too - but here we come together for one “common” theme - and have spaces to discuss other things too. Twitter and all the other socials are more general.

Here you wake up tomorrow - say “I’m no longer a truck person - don’t like them and think they’re stupid” - then fine, leave the group and don’t participate any more. Other more broadly viewed socials though seem to have been overtaking though by people upset the platforms aren’t sharing their “bias”.

Imagine if Google only have you the search results they wanted you to see - not a true reflection of what is out there….oh wait - they do that now.

Seriously though / as mentioned we all have different experiences and views. Nothing wrong with sharing our opinions respectfully. It’s when we start screaming to drown out others with the knowledge we are “correct” is when we start having trouble. I mean someone living in a major city is likely going to have a different view on things than rural citizens. Someone who actually lived through an actual war or 2 likely has a different view on the current situation in Ukraine than some millennial. Nothing wrong with either view point - just shows different factors influence our thinking.

As to hope for the next generation / I still have some. In the late 1960s - a lot of people felt we were doomed to a 2nd civil war. Yet somehow disco and cocaine distracted us enough to briefly bring us all together in a love of of the one great uniter of people everywhere (money). Then we started cranking the printing presses and giving more and more away until people found a need to start bitching about stupid things again.

I agree mostly, but want to offer a slight correction/some info. The last war was fought by millenials. Millennials are veterans and parents now.

This MFer got caught on the sticky trap, found his way to the upper radiator hose, got the trap stuck to that, then tore himself free (leaving fur behind). Fine, I'll put 4 instead of 1. Might add a little peanut butter to one or two to entice it.

You remember the old wooden Victor traps made in Littitz PA? Those can be tuned it be set off by blowing on them. Butter up that latch for a lube and those traps work great. As a kid growing up in the country my Mom gave me a quarter for every mouse I caught. Been whacking them little bastards for 55 years.

Yeah, I'm thinking glue traps suck, time to go old school. I really started with humane traps then have progressed to glue. considering all the aggravation and $ these little fuckers have caused me, i don't care if they die in agony. I was more than pissed when I opened up the glove box and there was a little turd on the glue trap. Can't really fix it until i catch them, thank god i have another car.

They have stayed out of my glove box ever since I started putting peppermint oil on a dried out air freshener and sticking it on top of my cabin filter. But, this one doesn't seem effected by anything I put in the engine bay itself.

Peppermint oil or just a good ole bar of Irish Spring (or just slice off a few slivers of a bar and spread it around. Seems to work - keep my old truck in a barn and zero issues since I started using it.

Cheaper and less oily and it’s actually humane - I don’t care WHERE they live - so long as it’s not where I live.

Yep. Had that happen at UTI when a cat got into the diesel shop without being noticed and got into a fan shroud to sleep. Made a bit of a mess. Thankfully, wasn't the bay I was in so I didn't have to clean it up.

Greedy Corporate America businesses that keep their employees down, no raises but want more out of their workers. It’s the same everywhere I’ve been. I just go thru the motions and do as little as possible anymore. Just got a new job last year and thought this current place would be different, did everything perfect but boss man just makes up BS excuses. So I’m done. Wages haven’t kept up with inflation in the last 50 years. I can’t wait to retire hopefully, only 27 more miserable years to go if I live that long.

So greedy people, then. Not honest to label it as a specifically American issue, or that all businesses operate in that manner.

Well, if everyone depends on it for everything they are far less likely to question it for fear of being cut off. Smaller is better when it comes to guberment.

The Canadian way is to subsist off the government. Self reliance, independence and free markets are to be discouraged and often punished.

That's as political as I'll get.
