Been scouring the forums looking at what people decided for their aftermarket remote start systems. I've finally made my decision... I think... If you have said system or another brand please let me know what you think about it and is it worth it?

I've called around looking for a Viper LCD 2-Way Remote Start System w/ Alarm System and was quoted $700 for the system and install. Does that price sound fair? Is the alarm system worth it? or should I just get the remote start and stick with "factory" alarm?

I've also looked at the Fortin Evo-One, How easy is that to install? This system is just a remote start that uses the factory key fob. While the Viper gives you a new fancy key fob and claims 1 mile radius. Do I really need the 1 mile radius? No... But do I want it? Yes... lol

    Let me hear your reviews!

Thanks in advanced for the information!

I've got the viper remote start but I passed on the lcd and just went with the fob. It cost 460.00 iirc. I really like it and would recommend it. Hope this helps. It has great range too.

I'm a sucker for fancy things... and the LCD looks nice =P but now looking at the website the LCD for the Remote Start/Alarm is different from just the Remote Start. Did you get the alarm system also?

    Flux capacitor!
I've had the viper 2 way alarm installed on five different trucks. They are very handy and helpful to have. There's several things you can add to the alarm as well like a glass break sensor, backup battery and the mobile app. The mobile app is by far my favorite and most useful feature to add. You have to buy a module for the alarm and a yearly contract. The app alerts you from anywhere you have cell signal to your phone if your alarm goes off, start your vehicle, lock, unlock and gps coordinates. Prices for the install can vary greatly but Best Buy can sometimes offer a better price on the install. The 2 way remote is nice to have but it's range is limited much shorter distance if your inside a store. This is when having the mobile app is extremely helpful. I remember my truck going off when I was in Europe and my phone notified me.

Had Viper on my '06 Tundra with the Viper remote. Worked as it should.

    Sounds like a winner.

Shame on you Toyota for not making this standard. Toyota lack of technology dumbassery once again.

Has anybody used Compustar remote + alarm? Just called an installer and they quoted me $950 for install and unit... While the viper install for remote and alarm was only $700... Any reason to consider Compustar?

Can't help you with that question but
I have 2 compuStart but not on the tundra and I love them. 2 ways LCD with 1 mile range (more than enough), paid $550. Can use both the oem fob or its own remotes.

I've read this in a couple other forums... It works the first time but then reverts let me know if this works for anybody else

Step one: Keep driver side door open. Insert key into ignition and take out.

Step two: Put key back in ignition w/in five seconds.

Step three: Turn to the "on" position, not the acc position and wait 10 seconds.

Step four: click the "lock" or "unlock" twice as soon as the key is in the "on" position. You should here one continous beep for about a second.

Step five: Take key out. Get out of truck. Shut door. Try your keyless entry button. You should get no beep but still see the parking lights flash.

I will say every now and then the stock un/lock beep will not happen. Not sure what causes this, has anybody else experienced this?

I would be very careful purchasing a remote start from Amazon. If it is a viper they will not warranty the unit unless it is sold and installed by an authorized dealer. I have installed DEI products for years and they are great but I would only go through an authorized dealer.

    Good to know...Thank you!

@GavinG83, since you've installed them before, are you familiar with any issues with the 5706V and DBALL2 Databus Combo bypass? Do you have any suggestions?

Are you also using the DBALL Databus? I'm getting mine installed next week and I still have some time to order a different databus if needed

@ porkitt no issues that I know with that setup. I have a different version of that (5902v) in a Explorer for over 8 years still works every time. I personally wouldn't put anything but a DEI system in one of my cars.
