What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Remove stud. Replace stud with bolt.

I suppose you could use a high-temp threadlocker agent to permanently affix the stud into the hole, but replacing with a suitable bolt that may be prone to less rusting would be ideal, I'd think?

 

The Toyota studs are hardened steel and resistant to corrosion. As you can see the old one is on good shape. The aftermarket one I have from the exhaust shop is already damaged from rust on year two so I’d have to soak it in acid to get rid of it and clean up what’s left of the threads.

 

This I should be able to get out with the impact.



This one will require pulling the front driveshaft to get an impact on there.



I’m also going to have to do something about that front diff leak. I can’t even get the 10mm hex on the fill plug.

 

Soak the new ones in salt water to build up their tolerance.

I just replaced my driver seat cushion with this. It was fairly easy (plenty of youtube available). The difference is incredible! I sit ~ 1" higher than before, and I'm no loner leaning to the left. It feels like a new truck!

Is it my imagination or do my O2 nuts look like they're welded to the flange in the above post #44385.

Maybe the nut is flared at the bottom and just looks that way.

 

They aren't it's just a rusty flange nut.

I'd heard the pilot of the Tesla was renting it for the night & that the owner didn't have rental insurance - so no coverage.

Made a little dump run yesterday and came to find out that Big Booty needs to go on a diet! I know I have a shit ton of extra metal and shit on her but last time I weighed her without the bumper/winch and nothing in the back(tent/rack/tools), she was 5640. Yesterday she weighed in at 6760lbs.

Granted it’s not completely accurate but she’s a bit heavy. At the dump it was me, the gf and 2 big dogs weighing around 460. That puts Judy at about 6300lbs with a full tank and no camping gear, just tools. Time to go on a diet.

 

Yeah that's definitely getting up there. How are you gonna slim down? Just keep the gas only 1/4 full. That should help.

When I got weighed at the dump last year I was at 5,620. That was just me in the truck and no camping gear.

 

I have no idea! Removed the sliders to address the holes so the dogs don’t get their legs caught anymore. They're 85lbs a piece. I use them a lot to fold up the tent but that’s not a necessity anymore. I think I might keep them off for a little.

 

Good news today is after spending most of the day yesterday picking at the fill plug on my front diff and scraping out the crud, I was finally able to squeeze a 10 mm hex bit in there. Spraying it with mopar rust penetrant definitely helped to break down the fine rust into a glob I could scrape out.

I also put together some extensions for the impact to get at the right side downstream O2 sensor.

Tomorrow, I’ll call the shop that did the work to find out if the stud will come out and it’s size before I hit it with the impact.

I ordered a set of Fuel Vectors. Hopefully I can get them installed next Saturday.

 

I did this a few weeks ago. I changed my Diode Dynamics SS2 Pro Fog Lights to Diode Dynamics SS3 Sport Fog lights. I got a great deal on a set for a 2007-2013 Tundra. It took a few mods, but I'm happy with the results. They are very bright.

 

i wish someone would make a bracket for use steel bumper guys to bolt in DD SS3 lights..

 

Do you have any close up pics of how you mounted those? I currently have OEM buckets in mine with LED bulbs but they aren't great. I also purchased empty buckets to try and install some LED pods in them but I'm not finding a good mounting solution. I wish someone would make drop ins for the first gens but if they haven't by now, it's probably not gonna happen. Sucks.
